"When I hatched, the Gods Whispered Their Stories In My Ear" Blue Notegath
While Notegath is slightly on the large end for a blue, he's decidedly average. His frame is muscled and somewhat blocky, but still strangely elegant. Perhaps it's the slight length of his features, the slight dished quality to his face, or his delictate paws and long wings: they balance the blockiness, and give him an impression of both dignity and power- which he is very happy to maintain. His hide is usually smooth and shining, because he's somewhat vain and enjoys looking his best, thus demanding on regular baths, oiling, and preening before he deems himself presentable and wanders into public.
More then his build, his coloration is striking and ethereal. A vibrant medium blue forms his base, but it's hard to see. Around the center of his neck, faee and torso, a darker blue subtly darkens some of his base. starting right where his jaws meet his neck and trailing around the front of his muzzle and down his topline is a lighter shade of dark cyan, which also claims his bulky wing-muscle and the front half of his wing-spars, shading gradually away down his back and tail. A still lighter shade of icy cyan spots on top of this, present at the tip of his muzzle, in a very thin line down the top of his muzzle, on his ridges, at the very top of his wing-spars, where they meet into the wing-hand, and down in a continuing thin layer on his topline, till slightly past his tail.

As if he walked into the night sky and some of it stuck to him, a deep, dark shade of blue- past navy, with slight purply tones— covers his paws and makes a brief appearance on his underbelly, shading very slightly upwards on his chest and neck. It also covers his eyes in a dark patch of shadow, and from these markings grow strange stripes. At times, they look like ordinary stripes you might see on a wild feline or a smaller tabby beast, but other times they seem pushed by some ethereal entropy into strange shapes: Swirls, hooks, mixed casually into jagged lines and stripes of a more natural variety. A hook descends from his eyes, down his muzzle, underneath the darkness around his eyes from which it rose, and sweeps down his neck. These are subtle for their darkness, and it takes a moment of staring to figure them out. Just beneath those, bordering their dark territory, are smatterings of chaotic spot clusters in bright icy blue, which look almost as if they are stars drawn from the sky by these strange hooks old gods have drawn on his body. Anywhere the cyans touch, they linger, and expand slightly out from that territory, but not very far. To finish, fairy-lights of slightly deeper ice blue dot his hide, both along the star-ridge of his topline and amongst the dark hooks.
His wingsails seemed to have escaped this chaos: They are a different tone then his body, a murky purple-blue. They seem to have been perhaps touched by the fairy-lights and star spot-clusters, but cloudy patches of the same wingsail base tone, darker and lighter, have obscured them into invisibility.

Personality
That this dragon chose Ye'go is something of a surprise— they're opposites in such key ways that it seems impossible that they'd get along. The opposite is the case: they get along quite well, and Notegath is a balance to Ye'go's harsher aspects. Notegath's subtle calm keeps Ye'go in control, more or less, and Ye'go tempers Notegath's idealism.
Notegath is mildly idealistic. He believes in a better world, and he believes individuals can do things to better the world. He believes in the general good of human and dragonkind, and that even in the most evil person you can find some hint of good. His personal morals are staunch. Ye'go finds Notegath to be a hopeless case, in these respects, where Notegath thinks Ye'go is tragically misguided.
Notegath is a knight for his causes. He is brave, and will face down situations where wiser people may balk in fear— if not for Ye'go, he would go careening off after small injustices. He is a protector: a passsionate defender of what he believes to be right. Ironically, though it's completely unintentional, Ye'go's tendency to temper Notegath has given the dragon some patience, and some faith that the world will turn out generally right in the end— or, at least, put him and Ye'go in the best possible position to put it right. Though he has calmed with age, he is still strong-minded and willful, capable of great feats when he puts his mind to it. All of his opinion sare deeply held, almost as deeply held as his morals are.
In addition to being passionate about much in his life, Notegath is a compassionate creature. He is kind, and wants the best for everyone he meets, unless they do him ill. He's fascinated by life, and finds it sacred. He has this serenity about him, which is slightly mystical— he carries himself with the air that he's tapped into something that not everyone has. It's like he instinctively knows some secrets of reality, that some gods whispered secrets to him when he was born, which he has put away for safekeeping. It's not true, of course, but he still moves and carries himself with this mystical outlook on like, slightly knowledgeable and mostly-amused. He is very patient, moreso now then ever: age has taught him that good things come to those who simply position themselves well and wait. Not that he's going to sit around while everything passes him by: he knows when to leap, he just knows when to be patient as well. He frequently cautions patience, and it's hard to get under his skin— only Ye'go can really do it, and that's because they've known each other so long. He's mostly a kind creature, and very calm, given to rationality then anything else.
In another life, Notegath would be a scholar, and he would probably spend a lot of his focus on philsophy. He's a deep creature, who likes to consider everything- very thoughtful. The ethical implications of his actions are very important, as are symbols which occur around him in daily life. He's somewhat poetic, and might eventually turn himself to a pursuit of poetry, if Ye'go didn't convince him that he couldn't string two words together to save his life (it's mostly true- Notegath's poetry is not anything anyone should be exposed to for long periods of time). Thus, Notegath leaves poetic-ism for occasional strange and flowery sentence construction, and leaves it at that. He really likes metaphor and hyperbole, and uses them frequently.
Notegath is slightly imperial. He respects order. He's slightly ambitious in that he'd've liked to attain some kind of rank, but he's more then happy listening to golds when it's required, and respecting one's leaders. He very much respects and supports golds as a whole, and will be a loyal supporter of any weyr, even where Ye'go is most certainly not. Notey does have a high opinion of himself, and can be prone to arrogance. Similarly, he can be prone to inaction— though he'd like not to be, he's somewhat selfish, like his rider. Only when his ideals are deliberately played to will he knock the unintentional selfishness off of its' rack and go far out of his way for someone. It's nothing intentional— with his ideals, Notegath would much rather he be entirely selfless, but that's simply not who he is. (He's not as selfish as his rider, either— more standard then anything, to be honest). He's also a very fair beast- fairness occasionally requires a harsh decision, but he's willing to make that decision, For The Greater Good. He's fairly empathetic and can get a good feel for people, and has in the past shown promise as a search dragon, though he no longer wears that rank unless specifically asked. He is very proud of everything that has to relate to him, and of everything that has a connection to him— he forms connections much easier then his rider. His leaders, his Queen, his candidates, even his rider— he's very proud of all of it.
Notegath has a strange fascination with social theory. He doesn't call it that, but he's constantly asking questions about how society is set up, how people relate to one another, how societies work… all of those things. He's curious about many things, but nothing more so then how humans function around other humans. He'll ask endless questions if given the chance, and loves to communicate abstract ideas and theories. He's quite talkative, when given the chance, and rather social. He's fine on his own, of course, but he'd like to be around dragons and converse with them, and even be around some humans. He will talk to people who aren't his human, but only if they show that they are agreeable to it in some way— he respects the privacy of others' minds too much to simply speak at them without some kind of permission. He just really enjoys conversations.
Notegath has a fondness for nature and a special fondness for the night. He is by no means nocturnal, as a wher is, but he does stay up late to admire the placement of the stars. He likes to fall asleep out in the open air whenever possible, only sleeping on his couch when weather or temperature demands it. He unintentionally medetates— spends time in nature collecting himself, gathering his thoughts, and generally conversing with himself alone. He has a natural balance and he seeks more of it unintentionally- balance is important, it keeps you sane.
Notegath frequently wishes he were capable of breeding; he is a familial creature, and likes to keep those who he considers his people close to him. He's often paternal even when they're not his brood— he likes weyrlings and seeks time with them, to see how they're coming along, and he likes kids of all kinds.
Notegath is more responsible and reliable then his rider. If ever you need Ye'go to do anything, it's best to approach him through Notegath, because Notegath is as good as unintentionally manipulating his rider as Ye'go is good at intentionally manipulating other people. Their relationship is a strange one, despite often teasing one another and frequent friendly arguments. They've learned to accept each other's flaws, in their own eyes, and love each other for them. Notegath is, in Ye'go's eyes, a hopeless idealist and a softie. Ye'go is excessively harsh in his outlook to the world and greedy. Nevertheless, they have a connection, and wouldn't give it up for the world— perhaps because of those facts.
