W'ren's Doseth

Brown Doseth

…The brown that spilled out managed to turn his fall into something almost graceful, sliding head over tail and coming back up onto his feet. He gleamed in the glow of the setting sun, a shading of three browns. A creamy brown like milk-added klah spread over his muzzle and down the front of his neck, but cut off suddenly at the first neckridge on the back of his neck and plunged into the darkest of browns, spreading down his spine and onto his wings On his belly the creamy brown faded into a paler brown that matched the finest sand on the beach. The dark and light didn't meet until the tip of his long tail on the webbing.

He looked otherwise like the other mutant browns, webbing to help him swim - except for one front paw, which had and odd extra front claw - a large one, not a small one, making it look even odder. Six claws adorned his left front claw instead of the normal five. …

The silver egg with ribbons of dark blue

The next was a surprise in that it was almost entirely silver. It was medium sized, and was a lovely color of silver with, strangely enough, ribbons of dark blue mixed in.

Tap tap tap. Inside one egg there was a steady, rhythmical noise. The dragonet inside was not so obtuse as to not know what was going on outside. One of the loveliest eggs on the sands, this egg was the silver one with ribbons of dark blue. The dragonet inside was quite aware when an egg all in pale colors hatched out into a tiny dragonet - a purple. The first sign that this Hatching indeed would have the other color. When a cheery yellow and orange egg was hatched into a green, he was aware of that as well. It was encouraging but he didn't hurry. Hurrying led to mistakes. He did his best not to make those, and he would start as he meant to go on.

It was an egg of black, brown, and dying yellow in the group closest to the tiers that would be what for once made him rush. For this egg hatched as it meant to go on as well - violently. With a howl, a blue head popped out of that egg, the red of its eyes from hunger and a strange anger. Perhaps the hatchling had awoken suddenly, perhaps it had been a difficult Hatching. It didn't matter. What mattered was when the blue scratched its way out of the egg, the hatchling inside the silver egg with ribbons of dark blue grew - worried. His was out there, and this hatchling was not peaceful.

In fact it was not His that the violent angry blue went near but the hatchling in the silver egg didn't know that. The blue stumbled closer to the candidates, a girl - and the silver egg cracked and split into two even perfect pieces. The brown that spilled out managed to turn his fall into something almost graceful, sliding head over tail and coming back up onto his feet.

There were really only a few moments to notice this because the excitement of his hatching was overshadowed as the angry, clumsy blue tumbled straight into a girl and knocked her legs out from under her. All accidental, he was still more furious and turned on her, hissing and swiping at her, his claws striking at her torso. His teeth went for her shoulder, the candidate named Alazne, but before he could fully attack there was suddenly another form hurdling toward him.

The brown hit the blue like a ton of bricks, his solid form removing the blue from his victim. Before the hatchlings could begin to fight more than a few scratches, Phalieth rumbled from where she watched the five largest eggs especially. It was a low sound, barely audible - but it froze the blue where he stood, teeth around the brown's leg. The brown stared down at him. If he'd been human, he would have raised a challenging eyebrow. Instead, he flicked his tail, cocked his head, and bared his teeth, a clear sign of what was to come. The blue's teeth slowly came down off his shoulder. He clicked his own mouth shut and stepped away from the other hatchling, in fact dropping him from his mind altogether. The girl had not been His, not by a long shot and right then, with the danger to His - or anyone else - placated he cared only about two things.

His.

Food.

Both of those happened to be not far off as the tumble in the sand had ended up with him quite near His. With a blink of surprise he shook himself and in a total change of demeanor bounded over to his - each move still graceful, but of the practiced kind. He was entirely aware of his own body and even as he winded about the boy he had chosen's legs, each foot was placed down exactly where he wanted it. He stretched his neck up to look into His eyes, mind touching mind. W'ren, I am here. My name is Doseth and I apologize for appearing so uncouth but I could not allow my clutchmate to hurt others - He would regret it deeply better I am sure. You didn't mind, did you?

Over in the tiers, Ravira leaned over the side of the railing. "Hey! Is that girl okay?"

Abilities

Brown: The strength of the Weyr, they are the last of the "larger" dragons and are a bridge between the smaller colors and larger in both size and actions. Mutated ones have an odd mutation - physically, they have extra webbing between their toes that extends nearly to the tip, and also between their forked tail tips. Their tail became extra flexible so they can twist it sideways and use their webbed tail a bit like a rudder. As well, they have a mental mutation that enables them to breathe underwater and as long as they have touched someone every fifteen minutes, to give someone else this ability as well. Generally patient and steady they make good Wingseconds for that very reason, though they can sometimes be made into Wingleaders as well. These males Impress males and the rare female of either steady types like themselves or those who need a balance to their excitable nature.
