- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
But for the tan and the fact that what flesh on him is lithe muscle, you wouldn't expect a man this thin to ride a dragon. Thanks to a fast metabolism, W'es doesn't really gain weight; he's always been slim, and tht hasn't changed now. What fleshes out his boney frame is lithe muscle, and the only reason that's there is due to the exertion of riding a dragon. An angular face has features that look juuust a tad odd, with bright blue eyes and strawberry-blonde hair. This stands out very strangely against the tan of his skin, which is becoming permanent with the exposure to sun.
Personality
W'es is an all around sweet guy. Prior to impressing a dragon, he was a harper apprentice; his two poisons of choice are singing and acting. It's singing and music that holds most of his affection; he likes pipes and the guitar, but his favorite instrument is his voice, and despite the fact that he is a fully-fledged dragonrider, he still sings and practices his singing. It's a comfort to him, and something he genuinely enjoys— many a person sleeping in his weyr has been woken to him doing voice exercises every morning, and stretching out those vocal chords.
He's generally an optimistic sort of person, happy despite the trials in life. It's not so much that he's confident that they'll get over the hurtles, as he knows that as long as he has what he needs— his friends, his lovers, and his dragon— he'll be okay. He likes it when his people are happy; if you're feeling down, he's the one who tries to cheer you up. Boyfriend just left you? Then sweetie, he totally wasn't worth you, and here, let's go out and be social and have a few drinks and feel better. Something close to you die? Oh, he's so sorry! Here, have a hug, and let's go and we'll talk and reminisce, or, if you'd rather have a distraction, he'll sing for you, or he knows that the harper hall is putting on this play this evening… He's that guy.
He likes people, and likes being around people. He tends to like crowds, and he also likes being one of the centers of attention. At parties, he's the one trying to make everyone feel welcome, or who's singing or playing guitar. It's his harper training that made him pretty keen on these sorts of things, though to be honest, he's always had a penchant for the dramatic.
A not-so-closet romantic, W'es is a true pansexual. He's attracted to people regardless of sex, and though he's prone to one-night-stands, he kind of does want a relationship, in that pleasant, idealistic way. Oh, it would be so nice to spend time and cuddle with a boy/girlfriend… that sort of thing. He's pretty cuddly with friends, too, but he wants that special someone.. he's just not really capable of finding them, apparently.
He's also something of an idealist. Things are not good now, but they might be. There's a chance there will be. And anything he can do, he will do, to make it so. He lives according to his own set or moral codes, which mostly revolve around making the people around him happy and fulfilled. That's why he's here, actually, why he's gone to all these risks to between back in time and help this first generation. IT's not for the thrill; there's too much risk for that, and he only takes the risks that are absolutely necessary. It's not out of a sense of duty, either, really— it's because he has a chance to make things better. to assure the survival of his beloved pern, and his beloved people.
A daydreamer, he frequently looses himself in the clouds, composing music and singing.
He's got a flair for the dramatics, though he's a peaceful soul. This can be taken, and is applicable, in two ways— first, being a harper who has done some work in the theater, he's a good actor, and as such his actions are passionate and have a lot of feeling behind them. His sense of stage presence has almost become secondary; his body language speaks as many volumes as his words do, and anything he does is just perhaps sliiightly more dramatic then is absolutely necessary.
He's also very empathetic; he has a keen sense and appreciation of people, and can empathize with their pain. He attempts to be fair and see through this to make good decisions, but for this reason he can be blind to some of the more harder pieces of logic, and thus can be a bit soft.
Despite that, he is a surprisingly good teacher, and that seems to be in the direction he's leaning— he takes a keen interest in candidates and weyrlings, and has been an assistant weyrlingmaster in every clutch since Xalroth's birth/graduation, helping out in every small way he can. He has no aspirations towards being a weyrlingmaster himself, but all harpers receive basic training in teaching, and he genuinely enjoys helping.
He also likes kids and children, and kind of wants some of his own, in addition to a significant other.. but he figures that's far out of his reach. Life on pern is just too risky, and anyway he's a dragonrider; there'd barely be time for a SO, if he found one, and almost certainly none for a child. Pity.

Blue M Dragon
Xalroth is a striking dragon. The base of his hide seems to be a gunmetal blue, shading down most of the top parts of his body. Starting at about his elbows/hocks, it begins to loose some of it's blue-tone, becoming more stark gunmetal and darker, nearly black by the time it reaches the very tips of his talons. His underbelly seems untouched by this shade, considerably lighter along the underside of his torso and tail, and reaching to shade the inner bits of his upper legs, where they connect to the torso. The light underbelly is present up his neck and underneath his chin, but along his neck it is thin, shading not quite as strongly upwards as it does on his underbelly, where it colors the gunmetal lighter shades halfway across his sides. That shading makes more of an appearance around his face, lightly coloring the gunmetal blue around his jaws and eyes. The very surrounding of his eyes are that lighter blue, fading out very slightly, but not touching his eyeridges.Tones darker then his base taint his ridges, and slither downwards across his body in stripes similar to those seen on a canadian mackerel. They're mostly across his torso, not quite reaching to his elbows, and down his tail. Halway up his neck, they're present, but fade dramatically near the head, where they are only faintly visible on the top-side of his muzzle. The gunmetal base dominates his wings, shading only slightly to the darker gunmetal color near the edges of the sails. In terms of build, Xalroth is lithe and long, like his rider. The most muscular parts of him are his wing muscles, but the rest of him is covered in the same lithe muscle you'd see in a leopard; he's strong, agile, but it's not brute strength so much as agility and the knowledge of how to properly use momentum.
