Consise/Basics

Name: Veiha
Nickname: Vei

Wing: Titan

Position: Wingsecond
Past Ranks: Weyrbrat, Trainee, Candidate, Weyrling, Rider, Dragonlost, refugee, candidate [again], Weyrling [again]

Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pansexual

  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Eye color: gray
Hair color: black
Height: 5'9"
Voice: Low and gravelly, almost a growl.

Veiha has an imposing presence, but she is not a tall woman. She only is about 5'3", though her stance and force of personality make her seem taller. She is covered in lithe muscle, which used to be more obvious, but since loosing Lath she's stopped maintaining them. She's gaunt, actually, with a haunted look in her eyes. Her hair is black, but has started taking grey strands much earlier then it otherwise might. It hangs limply from her head, matted most of the time, and without any hint of a healthy gloss. She tends to wear muted colors and grays.

Personality

Likes: Cats, people who get out of her way, whers, people who do what she says
Dislikes: People, raucous firelizards, newhalfs, people who kill dragons
Goals: Destroy, completely and utterly, the people who took Lath away, and reimpress
Fears: Reimpression (but she won't admit it, and standing again is partially an act of rebellion and defiance against herself and her own fears), people killing the dragonet if she does impress
Habbits and quirks: She doesn't look at people, she stares at people, and she breaks glass when she's angry.

She's always been intense, but since loosing Lath Veiha has become a creature of vengeance.

The fire that now animates Veiha is a peculiar thing. It is perfectly controlled, but it is very active. It is not a slow, bitter, smoldering burn, nor is it violent bursts that cause her to lash out. It's an acidic, active, boiling mix of rage and hatred that bring out a very potent sadism.

She has always been calm, stoic and strong. She has always seemed somewhat cold, distant. Her emotions were deeply hidden, but deeply felt. They're probably still felt, somewhere, but they're numbed by cold loss now, and she barely feels them. Should she bond again, she will once again feel, and deeply- but he scars of loss will never fade, and she will never show it as clearly as she did again.

She was once wise, with strong self-control. The self-control is still in tact, but only because without self control she cannot be an effective weapon against those she dislikes. The wisdom that once tempered her actions has left with Lath: her only remaining sense of self-preservation is to keep herself alive so that she can more effectively destroy those who committed the genocide against the dragons. She fully expects to sacrifice herself to this end eventually, but until that time comes, she keeps herself basically prepped as a weapon. A human weapon.

Veiha's discipline is strong. She's vicious, and a trained fighter. Her father had been a member of the guard before he Impressed, and groomed her from a young age to have the same sort of physical and mental training and discipline present in those ranks.

She's a deeply loyal creature, though with the loss of Lath came the loss of most of the connections she felt loyalty to. She forms a sort of pack-family out of close friends and the occasional blood relative, and her role in that pack has always been vigilant protector. She's the watchdog who will be a guarddog if necessary. Lath's murder has strengthened this trait, somewhat. She will now be jealously possessive of any connections she manages to cultivate. She's always been protective, but now she will be scared that she will loose those she loves as she lost Lath.

She is quiet: she chooses her words carefully before she says anything, and she judges every situation as she moves into it. She's always wary, always on alert: now moreso then ever, she's looking for people to come out of the woodwork and attack.

She badly wants vengeance for Lath's murder. She pursues that with singleminded intensity— everything she does now, she does in hopes that eventually it leads to their destruction. She's almost forgotten to live, in light of that obsession. She has become cruel, sadistic, vicious, and tenacious. She will not hesitate for a moment to use violence or torture, especially against those she knows to have perpetrated attacks against dragons. She despises newhalfs for being the cause and justification for the genocide. Her morals seem to have melted away, and now the end justifies the means: if someone is in her way to her goal, they will have to move or she will go through them. Life for her has become war, a constant dark war.

She's become a very dark creature. She was always sarcastic and harsh, but now she is moreso. She is cynical and her wit is cruel, and she is a great appreciator of Irony. It dogs her, a companion in misery. She never rests, and is never comfortable. She is, however, confident: she knows exactly what she's capable of, and she's willing to exercise her abilities in the cruelest possible way.

She doesn't drink often, because it brings on a lack of control and makes one vulnerable, but she does enjoy drinking. When she drinks, she drinks liquor strait, and she drinks to get drunk. It happens once in a blue moon, and only when she's confident either that she will not endanger her cause or surroundings by letting her guard down in such a way.

Since Lath's death, Veiha has experienced a logical disconnect. She is standing as a candidate now, but she does not really ..expect, if she does impress, that a bond will form. Sort of. She expects it to be another step in her goal to destroying those at whose hands Lath died, and she expects it will be as cold and emotionless as everything since then that she's done. She's been alone since then, and that's part of the reason she's stayed shut off.

She's wrong. She will form a bond if she impresses again, it will be emotional, and she will have to come to terms with the fact that she has just bonded another living emotional being, as Lath was, who she loves as much as Lath, and that it is not simply a weapon or a tool. If she's lucky, she may even grow comfortable and happy again, and find a sort of serenity.

Life will sneak up on her in certain ways, too. She'll be caught off guard when she lives with people and experiences that strange tendency her fellow human beings have to be endearing despite themselves. She'll be expecting to be sullen and brood, and what she'll probably find is stuff that jerks her out of that and makes her deal with things again.

History

Veiha was born in the weyr, as a weyrbrat. She was always going to ride a dragon: that much she knew from the get go. She was a serious child, and it helped that her father- a dragonrider- had once been part of the guard and had high minds with the sort of presence he wanted to have in his children's lives, dragonrider or not. He instilled in her a sense of strict discipline.

As such, she was a serious girl, and as serious in her training as she was in any aspect of her life. She threw herself at candidacy with everything she had, and made her father proud: she impressed a blue named Lath, at the age of 12.

Things went pretty normally for the pair, up until the dragon genocide changed everything. Her blue was killed, one of the first murdered. Rather then following her dragon into death, Veiha swore revenge.

For a long time, she moved around in a daze. She avoided the company of other beings, living on her own. The founding of uprising reached her briefly, but she felt little for it: weyrs meant dragons, and she did not want to be reminded of her loss. She wanted only to dwell in anger and plan her revenge.

It got into her head that to properly get revenge she would need the medium of a dragon. When the thought first appeared- a small, irksome little thing- she banished it desperately, but it refused to go away. Five years after the death of her dragon and she sought out the weyr, finding it at the age of 19.

She's been at the weyr for a month at the start of the game. Adjusting is a process, more then anything
