Name: S'fet
Nickname:
Pre-impression name: Teufels
Position: Weyrling
Past Ranks: Guard, candidate
Gender: Male
Sexuality*: Pansexual
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
6'4" and all muscle, Tuefels carefully maintains his strength. His frame is big and wide, and he looks as imposing as his personality would lend him to be. His skin is pale, and his hair is light sandy brown. His eyes are blue, and most of his features are square. He has some scars on his upper arms from fights he got into as a child, and he tends to wear leather-based clothing and armor. Where he cannot wear leather, he wears clothing in white, grey, or blue.
Personality
In every culture, there are those who thrive on violence. They're really not interested in much except the next battle, and they're very skilled in doing a lot of damage in the thrall of bloodlust. Teufels is one of those people.
Teufels possess a bloodlust which is useless to any but a soldier. He really, really, really likes killing things. The idealistic aspect of being a soldier doesn't so much appeal to him. Yeah yeah preserving cultures and protecting people and doing good for your own nation— he doesn't give a shit. He just gives a shit about killing things. He'd make a great mercenary, and actively makes a great solder. Well, you know, when it comes to following directions that are along the lines of "DON'T MINDLESSLY CHARGE INTO THAT BATTLE."
He's headstrong as hell. He used to be worse, but acquired some discipline— he'll still tug at the bit, though. If he doesn't respect the person in charge, it's worse, and he'll outright ignore orders. Don't ever put him in charge— he lacks all self control and most discipline required to make any kind of good decision. His take on a situation? Hit it 'till it's dead! Not always the most effective way of going about things.
Winning Teufels' loyalty is hard. It basically boils down to respect. He has to respect people as much as he respects himself. That's hard to do- he respects himself rather a lot, and tends to think down on people as a default. If he has loyalties, he usually won't admit them. Initially, his loyalties are first two whoever will let him spill the most blood, and second to whoever pays the best. That said, he does actually respect people: mostly for their strength and capabilities as a leader. If he attacks a leader and then finds out said leader was poised to be able to kill him teh whole time, he'll really respect them. If they just whimper or don't do anything, he won't. He'll also respect people for numerous victories in battle, even if at first he thinks they are soft-hearted, but that's a slow way to earn his loyalty.
Teufels lives internally by a very darwinistic perspective. People die. Other people survived. People deserve what they get. His worldview is brutal, and so is he. He can be downright bestial, and when fighting he is bloodthirsty. When he isn't fighting, he wants to be. He'll hold back in sparring only because it does serve to make one stronger, and even then both he and his sparring opponents can expect to leave the ring bruised and bloodied. He's naturally quite violent- some may call his lack of control and impulsive living downright bestial.
Teufels is impatient. He's not good at waiting, especially in those moments before a fight. He hates it. He absolutely despises it. It's the part where he'd run out ahead of everyone else just to get a few early kills in. To his credit, he's damn good at that. To his bane, such risks leave him exposed and vulnerable- not that he cares. In his mind, if he dies, he deserves it. He is unpredictable, moreso without something to temper him and with a leader he doesn't trust or respect. With said leader or said temper, he'll hold back and wait to release the full show of his fervor.
Teufels is proud. He knows exactly what he is, and he's really damn proud. He does not, however, know his limits. He'll strain himself and hurt himself, though he'll usually have enough sense to pull away before he really does kill himself. He's survived thusfar, after all. He's rough and tough, and can handle a beating. He's also tenacious, and his pride is uncrushable. Whereas some people use pride to step on other people, and thus hard when their egos are shattered, Ego doesn't really come into the equation for Teufels. He doesn't care how he relates to other people. What he cares about is doing what he wants, and making as wide a hole in whoever his enemies as he can. He's rather gruff.
Teufels claims to hate words. This is not actually the case. What he hates is diplomacy- it's a waste of time. Most harpers annoy him, and those who don't fascinate him in a kind of 'I can't begin to understand you' kind of way. He's a man of action, and by action he means fists.
Given his self-proclaimed hatred of words, he is surprisingly well-spoken. He can orate most of his ideas clearly, and make a point— even if the perspective he's coming from is one not shared by most ordinary people. HE enjoys talking, and sharing war stories, and that sort of thing— he's actually quite social, so long as the people he's with he can respect as fellow fighters. He enjoys being around those sorts of people, and despises being around softies he can't really understand— though he'll tolerate them, if they prove themselves otherwise alright.
There is emotion underneath all of him: it's usually a proud fondness for his comrades in arms. In terms of romantic relationships, it's possible.. though really, he's the sort for flings and brothel girls. Being emotionally vulnerable makes him uncomfortable, and a really serious relationship would involve that. He would be genuinely affectionate to a mate, if he ever did take one. He will also be affectionate to a dragon, without the sort of awkwardness and discomfort taking a mate would bring: dragons come with an autobond. Of course, he'd also be incredibly protective and possessive.
Teufels is a possessive person. What's his is his. Always. He'll also go to great lengths to protect someone, if he cares about them, because he doesn't want them to go away. He's incredibly loyal— undyingly so. That loyalty is hardwon, but when you have it, it's really hard to loose.
Teufels is still somewhat young, and he's aware how different he is from most people. He's somewhat insecure about this, and is still trying to find a place where his violence can be accepted, and perhaps somewhat useful. He has a sense of honor, but he's still figuring out what it is. Instead of the identity crisis most teenagers have, he's having an honor crisis, and trying to work out what it means for him.
It's almost a boon for him that the aliens have come and brought with them violence. He was in the guard before and found it dreadfully boring— now he's got something to fight and kill! Unfortunately, he does no one much good being an infantryman, when the things theyr'e fighting are so huge, so he's put himself forward as a candidate.
