Consise/Basics

Name: T'rax
Nickname:

Position: Assistant Weyrlingmaster
Past Ranks: Seacrafter, weyrfolk, candidate, weyrling, bluerider, Assistant weyrlingmaster

Gender: Male
Sexuality*: Pansexual

  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

T'rax is not a small man: at about 6'1", he's not the tallest you can find, but he's not small, either. His life on ships has affected his form— he's long in limb, with a sort of loose-rounded muscle. His hair is to his shoulders, and tied back in a ponytail. He typically has some form of facial hair— usually scruff, because he does shave in the mornings.

Personality

T'rax has the patience of a saint.

This is an unfortunate requirement of being on the other end of a bond with Ullusth, though the trait was in place long before T'rax impressed the blue. T'rax has always been both patient and a good teacher— he's good at getting concepts across to people, and he understands both the needs and the wants of other people. He is compassionate in every way Ullusth is not.

T'rax is a social creature— he doesn't like being alone. He's not used to having a lot of space to himself. He grew up on a ship, and the thing you can count on for that kind of lifestyle is close quarters. He likes having friends around, he likes going and drinking to relax in the evening, he likes having people to talk to. He's afraid Ullusth will isolate him from the rest of his community.

Poor T'rax suffers much, for his patience: a bond with Ullusth is straining, but he manages it well. He does adore his dragon, even if he's the only one who does. He approaches difficult or messy situations with a sigh— someone's got to do the thing, after all. He's susceptible to both guilt-trips and evocations of 'duty'. Being both responsible and coming from a family with a deep respect for tradition, he does things because he feels he must, that it is his duty to do them. It's why he stood for a dragon. He seems perpetually sheepish, possibly due to this.

History

The son of sailorcrafters, T'rax grew up on ships. His time on land was actually lesser then that on the open ocean, though they did typically spend several months on land a year, especially in the stormy seasons. They dabbled in fishing, but most of their income was through trade and shipping, rather then fish. His family was large, and his mother sailed too, not only his father. They did have daughters who stayed on land with extended family, but sons were always taken on board, from the time they were 6 years old— they had no choice in the matter.

T'rax probably would've elected not to go, if he had. Sailing was nice, and he got to see the world, but it was also dangerous, and he was ironically prone to seasickness. He wanted some inland job, something that wasn't quite so.. adventerous.

He stayed on ships until he was 19, at which point he got the wherewithal to tell his father he was no longer interested in taking after him and eventually becoming captain. He opened the spot for his brother to do it, and instead elected to go inland, to ploy his adventures that way.

Unfortunately, the only skill he was very good at that didn't involve ships was cheap labor and construction. He ended up going with a trading caravan, eventually reaching Benden Weyr. There he decided to stay, because they could always use hands to lift heavy objects, especially with the situation growing increasingly dire due to the severe lack of dragonriders. At this point on Pern, only the modified clutch remained, and though there was one clutch about to be laid on the sands, they were painfully short on candidates.

He was the upper-scale of the age, but because he was still of-age, and they were beginning to have trouble finding candidates. With a lot of higher words like "duty" and "Pern needs you", he was convinced to stand, and he's still unsure whether or not it was a good decision. He did Impress— to Ullusth.

Dragon

Ullusth
Blue M Dragon
Of average size for a blue, Ullusth is long and wirey. He has long limbs and a sort of slinky frame, and tends to stalk rather then walk. His gait is rolling, even in the air. His wings are a tad long for his body, and he tends to keep his head down when he's observing the world.
