Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pansexual

  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Black
Height: 5'11"
Voice: Soothing, kind of melodious without meaning to, has what would be a southern american accent

Switch is a taall woman. She's one inch short of 6', and that may only be because she has a tendency to slouch somewhat. She's also built somewhat heavily too, with a broader bone-structure and muscle on her limbs. Over the muscle is a soft covering of fat, giving her some nice round curves. She's overweight, but she doesn't much care. Her skin is a light tan, but it's usually darkened further by the sun. Her eyes are brown and big, and her hair is long, black, and strait. It goes down to the ends of her shoulder blades, and she either wears it loose or in a ponytail. She's fond of affixing small feathers and skulls in it, when she can get her hands on them.

Personality

Likes: Cats, people, good food, dragons, and firelizards.
Dislikes: stupid people, mean people, pointed sticks, going on ships, and the smell of feet.
Goals: To explore Pern as an old woman, to successfully raise several cats.
Fears: sounds in complete darkness, zombies.
Habbits and quirks: Collects strange things like skulls and shiny objects to put in her hair, frequently nocturnal.

For as odd as she is, Switch has never really found it hard to make friends.

She's just.. nice, and she makes people feel welcome. Whatever area she occupies feels natural, like home. It's just her attitude, and her confidence, but it makes a tangible difference to many.

Though she has found herself traveling frequently, Switch usually manages to establish a home base. When she does travel, it's on things like ships or trader caravans, where she has a room or an area that's hers, where she works from. That's her home base, and she decorates it as such- it's usually comfortable looking, with soft textures, rugs, odds and ends that she's managed to pick up (quite a few of them, since she tends to pick up things that look like they're interesting and might be useful), etc. They're usually quite cozy, and frequently resemble a small apothecary, since her specialty as a healer was in herb-medicine. She carries around herbal remedies for everything, and is usually interested in restoring her stores, even when she's not actively practicing. She's a pretty good source for little remedies, too: common cold, stomach ache, cramps, headache. You name it, she's got a herb to help it, and she is willing to share.

She's a helpful person, and if you need a hand with something, she's a good person to ask. If she can do it, she will help. She does have a pretty good grasp of her own abilities, and she's not going to turn you down if she doesn't think she can be of assistance- but if she can be, you've got a friend in her. She wants to better people's lives, in whatever way she can— and that way is usually pretty strange, considering her eccentricity. But, she means well, and her advice and remedies, while odd, are usually pretty good, if you know how to interpret them.

Switch is eccentric. She's always happy and amused, even when situations don't go her way or are unpleasant- it takes some really harsh, nasty shit to make her look down on things and stop being so comfortable. That's how she seems— content. No matter how bad life is, she has opusth and she has reason to be content. She tends to laugh a lot for no reason. She's incredibly casual and laid back, and she'll accept just about anyone- come as you are, and Switch has room for you. She's generous, even to strangers, because she believes in a version of karma and balance.

Perhaps that's where a lot of her weird comes in: she's a very, very superstitious person. She's not just the sort who says Faranth's name and believes in the dragons, but she genuinely thinks there's more to the world then there seems to be. Not to the point of organized religion, of course— but she believes in ghosts, and appeasing them, and she believes in the power of nature and the world's internal balance, which it will constantly seek to restore, and which is constantly in flux. She seems to have a mystical attitude, as if she can feel and see things that others can't quite see. Perhaps it's all in her head, but her answer to that line of thinking is, 'so what if it is?' It still affects how she acts, and she thinks it makes her a good person. She does seem to be living in a different version of the world, and thus a lot of what she says can be very out there, especially in terms of advice or connections she makes— but she's good at people, and at empathy, and that grounds her slightly. For as much of a person who takes great solace in her home and her privacy as she is, she does love people, and she seeks to be around them. They keep her sane. It's good to be needed.

Switch is a storyteller. She likes to use her imagination, and frequently makes up stories to amuse children— but just as frequently, she'll pull true stories from experience or from history, and tell those. She has that dramatic flair and a very strange sort of homey charisma that make her interesting to listen to, which probably contributes to her storytelling. Her projective affect helps too. She tends to remember obscure things, and put them to use— either in story, or in active life. It'll surprise you, what small detail she'll pull out of her memory at opportune moments. This is all attention- she's paying attention to the mythology of life, because it's important to Morale. Humans need stories, in her opinion, and she is perfectly happy to provide them.

She's a very natural person. Lies do not enter her lexicon. She's going to deal with you honestly and at face value. She's very down-to-earth, in that way. She also is fond of nature, and seeks to get out into it on a regular basis. Though she needs people and adores them, she finds it hard to be around them all the time: she's slightly uncomfortable in mainstream society. So, she'll be involved with it, of course- but she'll also take her own mental holidays, where she stays at home or walks through forests or wilderness, restoring her balance.

Switch is a very curious person, about everything: people, places, things, societies- all of it. She wants to know how it works. This is what led her to explore in the first place, and it still spurs those urges. In her spare time, she enjoys wandering and exploration. Be it untouched caverns in the weyr, or swaths of wood that have never seen human footsteps, she's fine with seeing it all— and she'd like to.

Though while not nearly as reckless as her dragon- she frequently plays counterpoint to his gung-ho forward attitude— she will take risks. She'll think about them carefully and only take them after deeming them required for the greater good, but she'll jump right into them like there's no tomorrow, when she thinks it's required. She's a healer, through and through, and healers don't always just concern themselves with the human body. They concern themselves with the human mind, and the human existence.

Switch is calm. She tends to keep her head in a crisis, her down-to-earth cool maintaining itself. A crisis that involves her will garner quiet but quick response; one that involves other people will get either direct help or advice. The thing she can be counted on, though, is providing an even keel, and frequently a lodestone.

Approachable, Switch is a friendly creature. She seems constantly amused, but rarely does it seem in a judgmental way- rather, that she's having a great time, and people's antics are a constant but pleasant surprise. She's an affectionate creature— if she likes you, you'll know it, in her easy manner and frequently through physical contact. One thing she is, though, is blunt- she believes in honesty, and if she thinks you need to hear something, she'll say it. She'll say it as gently as possible, but some messages cannot be softened, and she's not going to go out of her way to soften a message that needs tobe heard, and thus lessen it's impact.

History

Switch's history is hard to say. Not because it's harsh or anything, but because she's so deliberately unclear about it. She doesn't think it's relevant that people know where she's from or who she was. One thing is clear: she's always been a healer. She was born into the healer hall, and took up the apprenticeship as quick as she could.

After that, she spent a lot of time traveling. She actually found a comfortable position as a ship's doctor, and traveled the pernese oceans tending to shipmen's wounds for 3 years. That was how she eventually ended up on Western. The ship she was traveling with became profitable enough to hire a journeyman instead of an apprentice, and decided to upgrade. This left her without a job— but she was plenty fine with the chance, so she took up at the harbor.

Eventually she was taken up with rumors of the still-existing weyr, and managed to find it's locale with a little bit of research and a little bit of luck. She joined them as an apprentice healer, assisting those who already knew the healing arts at the weyr, but didn't stay in the position for long: she decided to become a candidate, and took up that mantle with as much relish as she did everything else. It seemed with that, she finally found something that fit, becuase she managed to impress Opusth.

Dragon

Opusth
Badly mauled as a hatchling, Opusth bears the marks of that trial. He is small for a neon, and his shine will never quite rival those of his brothers, always being just a touch more dim then many would think ideal. His legs are slightly misshapen and bear the scars of his traumas. In contrast, his wings are very well developed- they're what he relies on the most, rather then his legs. His gait is slow and jaunty on the ground, but he flies as naturally as a fish swims. His hide is bright yellow-green, with the signature neon glow, but it is marred with red across his face, wings, and torso, in splatters and stripes.

Spicecake
Brown M Firelizard

Whiskey
Blue M Firelizard
Although it looks like a green, this creature is male and colored with purple, and is simply an oddly-colored blue.
