  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Pretty tall for a woman, Ikarus is 6'2", and towers over people- something she doesn't use to a disadvantage. Her skin is a dark-tan shade, and her features are elegant, pointed- slightly catlike. Her eyes are somewhat large and oval-shaped, with hazel irises and a frequently steely expression. Her hair, which she wears loose to her shoulders most frequently, is a stark strawberry blonde- a contrast against her skin. She tends to be fond of no-nonsense, work clothing, though she is almost never seen without one of her handful of long duster jackets and boots.

Personality

Life to Ikarus is a chess-game. A massive, elaborate chess-game, with interesting consequences. Everything she does is considered very carefully. Every word is chosen, every action mapped out as much as a single mortal being can do, to achieve her selected ends, whatever those may be

Manipulative, Ikarus has a knack for getting to know people and ferreting out what makes them tick. This is very useful, to a manipulative jackass; Ikarus can usually figure out how to get what she wants, and how to get people to allow her to get what she wants without too much of a fuss. If she were just a tad more social, or put some effort into it, she would be quite charismatic. Lacking the motivation, she has only the smarts, and puts them to selective use.

She's strong, and drags up momentum quickly. When she really gets going, she can be a force of nature— though she prefers a much more subtle approach. Ikarus is a strategist; she wants to get what she wants with the least amount of damage. She is thoroughly ambivalent to chaos: on one hand, great distraction. On the other- it gets in the way and prevents things from going smoothly, by nature. Were she a religious woman and were pern a religious place, she would honor the chaos gods, but mostly to appease them and keep them out of her hair.

Her morals are fairly questionable- she doesn't really seem to have any, to be honest. That's not entirely true— she does have a moral code, which is actually very rigid, and she lives by it religiously. However, no one but her knows what that is, and her actions certainly reveal that it's not what ordinarily people consider to be moral. She'll steal, if it suits her, she'll gamble and play people shamelessly. She'll use sex, or the affections of other people.

Ikarus's Loyalties are questionable too. No one ever knows what they are, much like her morals— she's the only one who does. In her brain of hearts, she is loyal to those who trusts— which is about as vague as the question of loyalty herself. The only one that you can count on being on the list, and being first on the list by a pretty decent lead, is herself. She is reasonably certain she can trust herself, and as such, she is the first person she will look out for and serve. Her own interests are.. not only an important motivating factor for her, but the motivating factor. She makes no bones about being selfish, and feels no remorse. To her, it is not a flaw- it's a survival measure, and anyone who thinks otherwise is painfully naive.

Ikarus isn't a bad person. Ikarus isn't a good person, either- she is as close to true neutral as she can get.

Ikarus isn't really a people person. She doesn't trust easily, at all, and is a very wary creature. She keeps people at arm's length, and is emotionally and mentally distant, even if you manage the improbable and get close to her. She tends to be quiet and reserved, and slightly cold. She's more inclined to use someone, as previously mentioned, then she is to befriend them— though it's important to note that she rarely does this maliciously. To do something like that would make people notice the manipulation and make things hard for you later, and why would you do something like that?

She's not completely devoid of social urge— if she's honest with herself, sometimes, sometimes, she gets lonely. She'll also admire traits in people- mostly traits she has herself. Intelligence is one trait she really admires, that she herself possesses. Honesty is very important to her true, though this is hypocritical, because she'll lie on the drop of a dime if she thinks it'll get her further than the truth will.

History

Not much.

That's about all anyone really knows about Ikarus. She's very tight-lipped about her origins, though it's not for any real reason- she's not hiding any great catastrophe, or really anything unusual. She just wants to completely minimize anything that people can use against her, and it's not relevant anyway.

What we do know is that her mother was a wherhandler and she was born via carefully-timed sex. Her mother had a preference for women, and her wher was a brownie. Ikarus was blooded to the beast when she was young, and for awhile considered getting one herself- in fact, that was her career of choice.

She was born in a relatively small hold-camp at Deep Tree— really little more then a cothold, though bigger and not everyone was related. It was big enough to have it's own wher- though arguably that was because they convinced a handler who already had one that they had good prospects, not that they hired the pair specifically for guarding. Ikarus spent most of her formative years there, though she frequently spent months at a time at Deep Trees, fostered- her mother wanted her to get a handle for life outside of the confines of their little holdcamp.

Her contact with dragons was brief, and her interest in them was short, until she came in to do some trading; by happy accident, there was a green dragon visiting the hold, her rider attending to some business or another. The green took a liking to Ikarus- she kept staring, moving close to examine the girl curiously, lowering her head on the massive neck to get a better view. Staring alone is pretty conspicuous from a creature several times your size, much less everything else, so Ikarus was slightly off-put, until the rider appeared in the courtyard and informed her that the green thought she was an excellent prospect for a candidate.

That changed everything; the wher plans dissolved (though Ikarus kept them carefully as a back-up), and in their place, the idea of Impressing a dragon took hold.

I intend to bring her in shortly after she's been searched.

An OOC note about her history, which should reveal more about why her personality is what it is; this character is a revival of a character I played on City of Villians MMO, which is the villian counterpart to City of Heroes. On that game, she was known as a Mastermind (got their powers through followers), and could raise the dead. biggrin.gif So she had a hoarde of zombies! but that doesn't work on pern, so instead of having a mass of undead followers, she just wishes it were that easy.

"Bronze" M Dragon
The first thing to notice about Sephiroth is his hide. He's not one solid color, but a mixture of honey-bronze, white, and black. Most of his body is white, though the sides of his head, shoulders, flanks, and tail are all bronze. His feet and wing-membranes are black (the bones are a mixture of bronze and white), and some of his neck-ridges are also black. The result is a calico effect that helps to distract from his physical deformities.
In no way can Sephiroth be considered an average bronze. His legs are too long for his proportions, and his hind legs don't bend forward into knees like the average dragon. The result is a more canine-like hind leg, which is seen in certain whers. Two-thirds down the leg from the hip, the bone separates into two distinct, claw-ended “toes”. He can move them separate from each other, though he keeps the broad, flat bottoms close for balance. Because of his toes, he moves very awkwardly on the ground, and has a hard time taking off from a flat surface.
His deformities don't end there. All four of his legs bear tiny, vestigial wings on the outer ankle of each limb (just beneath the split for the hind legs). He can move each of these wings, and they sometimes give him extra speed or mobility. They can even aid in flight. Usually, however, they are little but a pain. They are colored like the wings on his back. Like a wher, he has protective spikes on the sides of his head and on the end of his spine (just above the base of the tail).
Overall, his build is slender. His legs are muscled like that of the average blue, and he lacks the barrel-chest of his bronze brothers. His triangular face is long, with a hook in the front of the muzzle, giving him an aquiline effect. For his proportions, he should grow to 34 meters. However, he boasts an abnormally long, slender tail that pushes his length to 38 meters. Though his wings are long and broad, their base ends halfway up the body, further increasing standing take-off difficulty.

This little bugger that crawled its way out of your bag of slime is about half an inch long, he's digustingly colored a foamy white color and it is thick and fat covered. He has six eyes and he will get to be a foot and a half long, keep him away from dragons and whers. They will try to eat him.
