- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Rovin is a man of average height and slim build. He's about 5'9", and there's not much that covers his lanky frame except perhaps a very light cushion of nimble muscle— otherwise he's all long skin and bones. His features are warm, with high cheek-bones, full lips, and large blue eyes. His brown hair has a few natural waves to it, as it follows the curves of his skull and branches out at his ears, and he keeps it relatively long; chin length at least, and somewhat maintained. He trims it regularly, and is somewhat vain about his hair. A light covering of facial hair surrounds his smiling mouth in a scruffy goatee.
Personality
Life is basically a constant party. That's Rovin's philosophy. He doesn't see any reason why life should get people down; if life gives you lemons, make lemonaid. Steal the sugar if you don't have it. Heck, steal some rum and make use that instead of water!
Friendly and cheerful, Rovin is very approachable. He's a social creature, he likes being around people, and hanging out. When he's in a place, he can most frequently be found in a tavern, a bar, or any other place that serves alcohol and serves as a makeshift social center. He'll talk to strangers, and he really enjoys that sort of dynamic created in a bar when a few people have been drinking, where they band together and start telling stories about their adventures.
He's basically good; he means well, and doesn't like to hurt people. He only does so when it's strictly necessary. He's upbeat and approachable, and his smile very rarely leaves his face. His sense of humor is similarly permanent. He seems perpetually amused, and his attitude very genial. In general, he's a lot of fun to be around.
Rovin's motivations are usually selfish, though. The man's a rogue, through and through. He can be trusted to be friendly, but he can't be trusted not to steal— the kletptomania which started in his childhood serves him well. He's a great sneak, very good at getting into places he probably shouldn't be, and though he's not physically very strong, he's very skilled with his beltknife. He's also got a bronze wher he doesn't stray too far from, if he can help it.
None of it's malicious- he's just out to save his own skin. He takes priority over most things, as would anyone he considers to be part of his group— of which, only Rosk currently counts. He also loves some chaos, and has been known to put a string of events into motion to cause a harmless barfight, or some other minor riot or chaos. His services can be bought, fairly easily, and he'll take complicated jobs for the thrill of the chaotic risk, and to put himself to the test— the theft and stealth skills he's been training himself in are a major point of pride, even if he does try to maintain anonymity (to the public eye- he doesn't mind being known amongst the holdless and any who might be interested in hiring him).
He's a very mischievous being, and the chief motivator for him, besides providing for himself and his wher to live comfortably, is to have fun. Tons and tons of fun. Preferably chaotic fun.
He's not stupid, however, and he does have eyes for the conundrums of the larger world— he sees the devastation wrought by the disasters, and both sides of the holders vs holdless issues. He justifies his lifestyle with a strange interpretation of these events; dwelling on the disasters would be to insult the lives lost, by not moving on. Doing what must be done to survive is what's necessary,

History
Prior to everything, Rovin was a fairly happy-go-lucky guy. He grew up in the minecraft, being acquainted with whers at an early age, and with the rough-and-tumble, informal group that the minors usually proved to be. He showed a fondness for the whers, and thus he moved towards a path that would involve working with them- that came to fruition in his 19th year, when he managed, after several attempts, to get an egg that wasn't a dud. The egg had trouble hatching, but eventually Bronze Rosk managed to break the shell's surface and hatched into a healthy wher.
Things continued on for a year, fairly normal for a minecraft wher and his companion, until the disasters. His area was one of the hardest hit; barely any of his local minecraft was left alive or even in-tact, and he was amongst the several rendered suddenly homeless. He survived, somehow, with Rosk— poaching food, mostly, which he continues to do. Rosk is a good hunter, and for awhile there were lots of surviving food animals without any sort of herder to guide them, from the disaster-wrought chaos, and they survived on that. Even now, when things are mostly back in a tiny bit of order, they still poach animals, though the loss is more noticed. They do it infrequently.
He continues to be holdless, though he's more of an independent agent then someone bound to any group. He's very much for hire; he'll work for holdless or holder, if the price is right— and all he really wants are provisions and maybe a bit of money on the side.
