- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Q'luin is 5'3", and she seems to be even shorter then that, despite her gregarious smile and soft features. Her eyes are round and large, and hazel-brown. Her hair is a light sandy brown, and she wears it shorn fairly short— about an inch or so in length. She doesn't bother brushing it, so it's always going every which way. Her clothes are usually dusty.
Personality
Q'luin has always been a tomboy. From a young age, she liked playing in the sand and getting dirty, and her friends were always the young boys, despite their relative rarity.
This isn't out of her sexuality, but more out of he comfort level— she likes playing around in dirt and traveling. She's informal and gregarious— the concept of "stranger" seems to be foreign to her. She likes meeting new people, and being in the presence of people, so long as they're not totally unfriendly.
Rather scruffy, vanity is not Q'luin's strong point. She doesn't give a rat's ass how she looks— as long as she's dressed, she's good! who cares if her hair is messy and her clothes have holes in them. That's not the important thing— the important thing is that she's alive, and here, and ready to have fun. Besides, who wants to wear nice clothes all the time? they're uncomfortable and they just get ruined. She doesn't really spare much time for people who judge others by appearances— as far as she's concerned, if someone judges her unworthy based on such a shallow set of guidelines, she doesn't want to be in their company.
Despite that, Q'luin means well- she really does. She's sweet and affectionate, and if you're on her good side— which isn't hard to do— she'll go out of her way to do any number of sweet and unexpected things for people. If she sees something her friends would like, she'll pick it up and give it to them, without any sort of special occasion. She also genuinely doesn't want to cause anyone distress or pain.
Q'luin has a talent for the mechanical. She was very successful as a smith, despite never getting beyond apprenticeship levels— no doubt she would've gotten to journeyman quickly, if she hadn't been searched at 15. As it was, she studies smithing in her free time, as a dragonrider, and takes a special kind of glee to it. Numbers and the sorts of equations used in simple engineering come easily to her, as if they were a second language. She enjoys messing with things, taking them apart and putting htem back together, to learn how they work, and is constantly making small trinkets out of scrap-metal and bits of trash she finds. Q'luin finds a special relish in learning— it's exhilarating, if the topic's right, and she'll study for hours to sate her hunger for more knowledge. She's also fond of adventure stories, and will listen happily to harpers recount stories for ages, even if she knows them already by heart.
History
Born to holder parents, Q'luin showed an aptitude for numbers immediately. The harpers marked her ahead of her class, and gave her what they could— she breezed through it easily, and asked for more and more. Eventually, she caught the interest of one of the hold's smiths, who showed her some of the entrance equations taught to Apprentices. These puzzled Q'luin for awhile, but with help she worked through them too, and thus awakened in her an appetite for smithery.
The more she learned, the more she wanted to be a smith. She broke from the holder's way of life and, at the age of 10, went off to join the smiths as an apprentice. There she excelled, comfortable in her craft.
She showed great promise, and she was expected to make journeyman early. She probably would've, too, if not for a sudden change of her course— a search rode to the smithcrafthall she was stationed at, and she was amongst those labeled as hopefuls for an upcoming clutch on Sapphos' sands.
Dragonriding was something she'd daydreamed about— one of those faroff chances that only really existed in harper's tales. She hadn't thought of it as an actual possibility, and when the searchrider offered her the chance, she was thrilled, and took it immediately. She could, after all, always come back to do more smithing.
Thus, she accepted search, and was in luck— she did impress during that hatching— a cougar approached her, and labeled himself Furieth to her, and from that point on, everything was different, in the best possible way.

Rock-feline M Dragon
A touch small for his color, Furieth has a compact build. He's muscular, with quick wings that afford him surprising agility in the air- he can compete with, though not outdo, many of the blues of the weyr.His hide is a wonderful dusty cream, broken in parts by striations of a brighter tone of warm cream-brown. White markings ghost along his underbelly, claiming a lot of his face— it's more pale then cream-toned, with the white markings ghosting upwards in a haze to touch his eyes and leave only a topline down his ridges and the top of his nose to the cream shade. Darker tones of smokey-brown, almost charcoal, claim his paws, as if he's been playing in mud. They also appear to haze his knobs and claim the very tips of his wings, where the talon is. Although significantly faded, the same brown shows up on a patch on his rump.
