Consise/Basics
Name: Musidea
Nickname: Muse
Position: Weyrling
Past Ranks: Candidate, Holdbrat
Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pan
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Angular features define her face, forming the usually confident expressions she wears. Individually, all of her features are a just little too long, giving the impression they wouldn’t play well together at all. Her eyes are green-brown hazel, complimenting the Venetian blonde hair. This hair hangs loosely to her shoulders in tight strawberry-gold waves, managed only by regular brushing.
Personality
The concept of rebellion has just occurred to Musidea, and so far she's really liking it. Not content with the domestic life of the hold or the plans her family had for her, she's discovering a vein of independence she never knew she had.
A little bit of a dreamer, as a child Musidea's head was firmly placed in the clouds. She told excellent stories and very good lies, and though she doesn't tell as many stories or lie nearly as often, she can still feign innocence and lie naturally. She still entertains high goals for herself, and is slightly whimsical. That said, she's turned her attention back to the problem of Real Life: making a name for herself and finding a way to live the way she wants to. She's more then willing to take risks, or make great leaps of faith. Running away to start entirely new in the weyr, for instance, when she probably could've found a niche in the hold, closer to home. The potential payout justifies the means. She should never become a gambler- if she did/does, it would become a serious problem for her.
Not only is she a teenage girl, Musidea is a woman with tendencies towards being social. She loves people. If she had her way, she'd surround herself with a loyal friend group at all times. She also likes having a good time— parties are great, and the more dancing and drinking there is, the better. This will lead to some tendency to form cliques, as will her fondness for gossip, but she'll never be entirely bound to any one friend group, nor will she be willing to completely ostracize someone until they've proven themselves to be something she doesn't really like. She won't forget what it was to be a new face without any friends, and a new person is potentially a new friend. Musidea is a very loyal person, and will probably side with her established friends in a dispute, regardless of the evidence or facts. The loyalty also isn't binding, though— she'll do most anything for a friend, but if she's feeling used, abused, or manipulated, she'll turn on them and they'll be as much an enemy as they were close friends. She also holds grudges- if you get in her bad books, you're probably there to stay. Though she despises manipulation, she's not above employing it herself, though she does make an effort to use it only when the situation "really calls for it."
Musidea's very creative and she always has been. This extends to things past her storytelling. For instance, if there's any way to make a punishment enjoyable, she'll find it and do it, if only to spite the fact that she's being punished. Telling her 'no' is almost a challenge to find a way around it. In another life, she'd make an excellent lawyer. It helps that she's stubborn. Passion is another good word for Musidea— if she likes something, she adores it. There IS a meh stage, but anything she's enthusiastic about gets her full attention. At the moment, that basically extends to clothing, boys, and animals, but eventually her tastes will broaden. Chores are unlikely to hit that level of passion, however.
Fairly active, Musidea is the kind of girl who'd rather play games then read. She's not exactly a tomboy, but she won't hesitate to play with the guys, and she likes a lot of sports. She's reasonably proficient at hunting, which takes people by surprise. She gets antsy if she can't expend her energy. She won't realize it, but she'll get irritable and unfriendly until she does take a jog or something. Her least favorite time of the day is the middle of the day, when it's too hot to go outside or be very active.
Musidea is affectionate, both platonically and not. A physical person in most ways, she likes hugging people and touching those she's close to- it's something she grew up with in her family. She will be sexual when she discovers the open sexuality of the weyr, and gender won't be an object to her. She does seem to prefer men and is unlikely to pursue women herself most of the time, but that's no real object to her.
As she is a teenage girl, Musidea comes equipped with a package of emotional horomones that include angst and vanity. Minor transgressions can and probably will be a big deal (but conversely she'll get over them pretty easily, if they're minor.) The angst will fade, but the vanity will only mellow.
friendly, rebellious, dreamer, unrealistic, creative, affectionate, stubborn, energetic, passionate, weyr unfamiliar but jumping into it with relish, physical, active,
Quirk: She loves gossip, and while she may not share it as easily as some gossiphounds (and is very proud of the fact), she nevertheless really likes hearing it and will go out of her way to find gossip.
Weaknesses:
She's accidently selfish- she doesn't mean to be, but she's usually focusing on herself. It's like the thought that other people might want the last roll, for instance, or that this behavior that pleases her might bother someone else don't occur to her.
She has absolutely no realistic idea about how to live on her own, and learning to be responsible for herself is going to be a slow process.
She's reckless— she'll leap before she thinks. She just needs the thought, 'it would be good if x' or 'x needs to happen', and she'll do it in whatever way seems most straitforward, in ignorance of reason, efficiency and danger. This can be a strength, but it usually bites her ass.
Strengths:
She's stubborn as a mule. So she has no idea how to be responsible herself- that doesn't matter, she's not about to quit and she'll survive and thrive just to spite the idea that she wouldn't.
She's friendly and she means well. Yeah, she can be selfish, and yeah she's slowly breaking from the mentality of 'I live at the hold were passive-aggressive behavior reigns supreme', but she doesn't mean to hurt anyone and she likes having friends. She'd rather be in good with someone then their enemy.
She's energetic. While she won't throw herself into chores with quite the same vigor as she will leisure activities, she's got all the energy of her youth and is more then happy to use it. She's the sort of girl who'd rather be doing some sort of physical activity to reading, and she gets mildly neurotic if she's got too much pent up energy.
History
Pern is slowly becoming a Desert. That's great, but Musidea does not remember a time before the desert, really. She's peripherally aware that it's getting worse. Mudiea was born to a large, large family currently living in Fort Hold. they've been there her entire life. Prior to her birth, prior to Pern's Desertification, they had been a long and prosperous line of seacrafters from Nabol. Some managed to keep their trade, but a significant chunk of the family moved inland, to try to learn other crafts.
This is the side that eventually spawned Musidea. They're surviving, and growing more and more insular within the hold walls. Especially the older members of the family, such as Musidea's father and grandfather, who lead their small clan and make the primary decisions. They remember what pern was like before it became a desert, and before the plague.
A creative and, at times, strange child, Musidea always had her head in the clouds. She dreamed of big, fantastic things— being a dragonrider, being a high member of the guard. That sort of thing. She became more realistic with age, but she never abandoned those grandiose dreams, much to her family's chagrin. When she showed absolutely no inclination of going into a craft at the age of 10, her family— always traditionalists- began making plans for her, and looking for young men that they knew who would be of marriageable age by the time she was.
They proposed this idea— along with the first young man— when she was 14. Musidea was not thrilled, and told her parents as such. She rejected suitor 1, and told her family that she had absolutely no intention of being a domesticated broodmare. They responded that domesticated broodmares were exactly what Pern needed, after such horrible things had destroyed so much of it's population. It didn't go over well.
Musidea continued rejecting young men, much to her family's annoyance. After roughly a year of such behavior, they began threatening to marry her off regardless of whether she wanted it or not- "for your own good and the good of Pern." This didn't jive, and thus Musidea began looking for some ticket out of the hold. She's considering crafts, but there's one option that really captures her attention: the weyr. Not only does it have that fantastical element of a chance to bring about her childhood dream of being a dragonrider, but it also has more open policies and men she can discover all in her own time, no strings attached. And women, too.

Dragon
Himeth
Lopezite F Dragon
Himeth is a deep red. Some would call her scarlet and some would call her crimson, but she has sangria as her base color. Her main markings run up from her talons, with a vine-like pattern that is a soft vermillion with the occasional rosewood vine intertwined. These vines move up over her belly, trunk, chest, down her tail and up her neck becoming fainter as they move towards her extremities. At the tip of her tail they disappear completely. Towards her head they become very faint, before fading into the sangria along the bottom of her jowls. Her face is unmarked, but twin spirals of vermillion and rosewood run up her head knobs, giving her a slightly whimsical look. She has no frill, which make her look more like a Dragon than a Daroc. Her wings are also unmarked, the vines fading as they approach her wing joints. Her claws alternate rosewood and vermillion, each one starting off a vine of the same color.
Himeth is built like a Gold, there can be no questioning that. She is thick and stout, with very little Daroc showing in her phenotype. Her wings are longer than a Dragon’s, however, giving her more speed than a regular Dragon of her size. Her legs, tail and trunk are all well muscled and thick, which will give her more stamina than larger Daroc, to a point. Her legs are not spindly or a short as some of her siblings, which will give her excellent take off power when flying. Her trunk, which is ensnared by a network of dragon muscles, which are generally more solid than those of a Daroc, will give her a large amount of endurance, competing with even her larger sisters. Her neck is swan-like, giving her some femininity to her thicker body. Her face is dignified but suiting to her body, more regal than beautiful. A masculine jowl flows down into a defined muzzle. Himeth’s eye ridges are more lady-like, tapering upwards and away from her eyes, which are slightly larger than that of a normal dragon. Her head knobs are dainty, despite their whimsical appearance. If Himeth could have been colored Gold or Green, there would be little to distinguish her from the Dragons other than her size. She is relatively large for her color and will like using it to strengthen her position in the Weyr, particularly with the lower colors. Her talons are surprisingly dainty for her size, however, and she will have to be careful not to break them if she is doing particularly strenuous labor or her Flights are more aggressive. Luckily for her she has one mutation, not common to her color, which will make this easier to deal with: She has an extra talon on each front limb. One would not notice this difference if they do not look closely, but Himeth wears them like a crown of Gold. They are her marking that she is different and wonderful and, of course, better than any of her siblings or relatives.
Firelizards
Princess
Green F Female
A mint green covers the entirety of her body, although her extremities fade from a darker, forest green. This gives her a striking appearance that prefers simplicity over complexity. Her build and features are generally average, although she is built somewhat heavier than her clutch sibling, as she has more muscle.
