Milae - BlueMist

Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Milae is girl of average height, around 5'7". Her build is soft and round, with a face that would look odd unless it was wearing the wide smile characteristic of Milae. Her eyes are green, and her skin is pale, and usually marked with a sunburn. She keeps her hair cut short, to about her ears, so that it doesn't get in the way.

Personality

Milae is a warm person and makes a pretty decent friend.

Friendly and sweet, she's pretty much willing to give everyone a chance. She has an almost puppy-like fondness for people, and she's the sort of person who will give someone chance after chance after chance after chance.. even if they probably don't deserve it. The only real way to get on her bad side is to be mean or to make her uncomfortable.. and even then, her "Bad side" doesn't really pack much of a bite or a bark. It's more that she'll simply avoid such people like the plague, and when she's forced to be around them, she will look obviously uncomfortable.

That's one thing about Milae: she can't hide her emotions for anything. If she's feeling it, it's going to be written right there all over her face. This can be a curse, when she's dealing with authority or in high-pressure situations. NEedless to say, she can't lie either. She's just not good at it— not only is it written all over her face, but it makes her nervous, which makes her clumsy. She'll thus avoid lying whenever possible— she's honest by nature— and if she's dropped into a situation where she should lie? Well.. she'll try. She just probably won't get that far.

Milae is naive, and maybe a little innocent. A lot of hard facts about the world escape her. She believes in the general good of humanity, and the general good of life.. even when faced with proof to the contrary, she'll still hold fast to those beliefs, and she'll still seek a silver lining. She's not hopeless, she's just an optimist. She tries to do good and help people, not only because it makes her feel good, but because she thinks good deeds will come back to her. This soft-moral set is something she grew up with, and she strongly adheres to it. Note however that her moral set doesn't really prohibit actions— it just encourages her to do nice things for people. She's not a prude.

Milae's friends are incredibly important to her. She's very loyal, and she tries to keep her friends close. She wants nothing more then to see the things she love thrive, and she thusly tries to help bring that around. She's willing to be whatever her friends, family, and other close people need: a shoulder to cry on, quiet support, loving affection.. The only thing she won't do are the things she can't do.

Milae is an incredibly affectionate person. If she likes you, you'll know it. Not only will it be clear in her tone and her language, but she'll show her affection in physical ways too. Milae thrives on touch. She seems to wilt without physical affection. Even small touches go a long way with her— a hand on the shoulder, etc. She will happily distribute hugs, if the other party is okay with that. She also just likes to be physically near people.

All of that is platonic, mind you. Milae's relationship to sex is.. odd, considering she's a weyrbred. Oh, she's not totally naive, but she's not blase about sex either. To her, sex is an incredibly emotional event, and is tied in with a relationship and closeness beyond that of ordinary friends. She thinks the relationship between weyrmates is something to be respected, and she hopes to achieve that herself someday. Oh, she knows about flightlust and such- who doesn't, growing up in the weyr? If anything, that gives her inner romantic an advantage: she knows flightsex is a reality, and is equipped to deal with it when it arises.

Some might say that Milae is kind of ditsy, and they wouldn't be too far off the mark. While she's not clumsy, per se, she does have a short attention span and a short memory, especially for technical knowledge. It isn't even that she has trouble encoding memories or bringing them to mind- it's more that she doesn't notice the thing in the first place, and thus can't remember it later.

That said, Milae can be quite patient when she needs to be, and can spare long bouts of attention if the situation calls for it. Particularly when coupled with her gentle nature, this manifests most often dealing with other living things. For instance, while she'll loose her temper with leatherworking for hours before she gets the hang of it, if there was a puppy too terrified to come out of the kennel, she would sit in front of the kennel for as long as that puppy needed and let it come out on it's own terms. She's nurturing. Similarly, she's a painter, and that kind of creative endeavor needs patience: she can sit for hours and observe something, in order to paint it then or later.

Milae is both maternal and familial. She likes caring for things, and watching them grow. She also hopes for a family some day, though she's aware of reality to know that it isn't often those involved with dragons get such things.

Milae hates being alone. Really, really, REALLY hates it— to the point where you could almost call it a neurosis. Being alone terrifies her, makes her feel like the world is pressing in on her. She'd always like to be with another person, and even that isn't as much comfort as being around a friend might be. She's not dependent on people in the clinical/relationship sense, where she hangs on a single person, but nevertheless she does not function as well when she's doing something by herself.

One might consider her weak-minded. She's not particularly willful, and she's somewhat gullible. She's also perfectly willing to go with the flow with things. Not to the point where she'd compromise her morals, or hurt someone else: those things go too far against her nature. However, if it's something she's on the fence about, or only weakly against? She's likely to go against her own instincts and urges, in order to do what everyone else is.

Milae is kind of nervous, especially in new and unfamiliar territories and situations. It isn't often that she'll try new things— even something as harmless as a new food will require the encouragement of a friend.

As a leader, Milae would be horrible. She tends to shut down in situations that make her nervous or scared, and being a leader is one of those high-pressure things that would make her do just that. Were she in charge, the weyr would collapse around her feet. Whatsmore is that she knows that, and even armed with that knowledge would be completely and totally unable to fix it. She just wouldn't be able to deal with that. Thus, Milae is absolutely, perfectly happy to be a follower. Whoo, following! Following all the way.

Milae is vulnerable. She's just so sensitive and innocent, it doesn't strike her to cover up weaknesses. Harsh words will cut her like knives, and she doesn't really think to build up the sorts of mental shields to the world that most other people do. Perhaps she knows this, on some unconscious level; perhaps that's why she surrounds herself with people and tries to avoid being alone.

She's not incapable of thinking for herself, however. Milae does form her own opinions, and will even speak them publicaly or defy people who disagree with her if she believes them hard enough or the situation calls for it. the only real example to come up thusfar is against her own mother, strangely enough: her mother, a rider, is a traditionalist who has disagreed with the way Sapphos is run from the day boys started being allowed on the sands. Milae doesn't agree, and will even say so sometimes. She isn't set in her ways, and her willingness to give people a chance goes for certain progressive ideas too.

Milae is fun-loving and social. She enjoys social situations, be they just a quick meal with a friend, a game of some sort, or some big party. Though this seems rather natural of humans (one would think, anyway), she seeks to avoid discomfort and tries to put herself in situations where she can enjoy herself and be happy as much as possible. She likes relaxing and having a good time. Thus, she's not the most responsible or studious person in the world. She's not likely to do a bad job, mind you— it's just not her priority. She'll work on her on time, she just won't take her work home with her.

History

Milae was born and raised in Sapphos weyr. She had a pretty ordinary childhood, though she floundered much longer then many other children her age when it came to choosing a calling. She didn't feel drawn to any craft in particular, nor did she have a very clear career. Unlike many of her weyrbrat peers, she was not drawn to the dragons— at least, not externally or obviously. Internally she was— she's keenly wanted a dragon since she knew it was an option, and she's always admired her mother's bronze.

She's just always been too terrified to stand.

Still. Four years of kitchen duty and other mundane chores is convincing her that she doesn't want to do that for the rest of her life.. She's tried to convince herself to stand numerous times since she's come of age, but she hasn't been successful— not until this most recent clutch.

He is longer and thinner than a wher but thicker than a Wyvern, he is an interesting creature in that he has six wings upon his back two large ones similiar in configuration to a Seraphim Wyverns, the last two were slightly smaller and just in front of his rear leg muscle. The little fellow had legs as well much like a Wher.
