Consise/Basics

Name: Liata
Nickname: Lia

Position: Weyrling
Past Ranks: Candidate, Apprentice Healer

Romance: Single / hesitantly curious (open)

Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pan; leans mildly to heterosexual
Sexual Role: Non-dominant; pursued.

  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Not that tall, Liata only comes up to 5'3". Her build is average, if fairly light. The way she carries herself, however, lends an air of frailty to her— she unconsciously makes herself smaller, giving people the impression that she's an inch or so shorter then what she really is. When she puts her muscle into things, people are surprised by her strength— the way she carries herself lends them to believe that she's not a very strong woman, either. Her hair is a deep shade of brown which, when exposed to sunlight, is very prone to picking up subtle highlights. Her complexion is creamy, though she has a tendency to tan, giving her skin a ruddy tone when she's exposed to long hours of daylight. Her eyes are a deep, sharp green. The features of her face are sharp, almost jarring, with large eyes— the final impression is delicate, almost fragile, and slightly creepy.

Personality

Complicated, oh so complicated. Lia has layers, and is very hesitant to part with most of those layers.

She's a very private person, with a rich internal world. Lia's incredibly comfortable with herself, which is part of the reason that she's something of an introvert. There's no deep pain or historical trauma behind her introversion— she was simply born with a less-then-honed ability to blend easily with other people. She'll insist vividly to her closest friends that she is, in fact, absolutely fine on her own.

It's not really so much that she doesn't want other people, doesn't crave social interaction, or doesn't have social needs— they're just somewhat less then your average persons, and the social skills that come naturally to some do not come quite as easily to her. It leads to some awkwardness when she's meeting new people, though more on her end— in new places and new situations, she very plainly looks ill-at-ease and out of place. It takes her some time to calm down adn go with the flow, and she never really seems entirely comfortable.

This has led to her frequently making the first impression on others that she is cold, aloof, or occasionally paranoid. They're not intentional by any means, and not entirely accurate— though she is somewhat aloof, she's surprisingly approachable. She'll participate in a conversation, and will become more comfortable in that conversation with time, after those initial moments of 'er, well, hi…' The paranoid impression comes more from her unconscious stance and expression than anything else- a long bad habit of hers is to walk with a slight bit of a slouch, and look mildly distracted and disturbed, when lost within her own mind. This gives her a sort of furtive expression; people realize that there's no actual paranoia after some conversation with her.

She is very careful and reserved— the atmosphere she has of getting lost within herself is accurate; when left to her own devices, she will get lost in thought. She's a daydreamer, a sensitive and artistic soul, though her thoughts are frequently of a philosophic and moral nature- she looks a bit disturbed and distracted because she's constantly wondering at moral issues, or having a great debate with herself about what might happen if something occurs like so… It's undeniable, she is something of a worry-wart. Every little thing she does is given some degree of thought, and the more serious the action the more serious the thought. This results in a sort of reservation, a very methodical way of doing things. Having a serious conversation like her can be almost like playing a game of chess, without the competitiveness— everything she says is considered, considered again, worded perfectly, and only then is it executed.

She doesn't mean to be cold, honestly, and she does like people. Despite her reservation, her somewhat weaker urge to be social, and a marked hesitation when it comes to getting close to people, she does really like interaction and conversation. Usually it's the calmer sorts of things— big parties were never her gig, and make her uncomfortable. But once you get over that awkward, quiet hump, and start actually TALKING— now, she gets comfortable. It's where people start to shine, and where you start to see the deeper layers of Lia come out.

Coming from a family of healers, she's a very sensitive, empathetic soul. She takes people as they are, for most part, and is willing to give people a chance. She's fair- in both good and bad ways, a logical fairness can seem cold as easily as it can seem warm- and in this way makes a good judge and peacemaker. If a blunt assessment of a situation is needed, she will give it— but she is not cruel, malicious, or sadistic. She will soften the harshness of blunt words, as much as she can, while still delivering them in such a way as to have their needed effect.

This is, of course, if she gets to that point of comfort and openness, and even then, it would only be around people to whom she could be considered close.

Liata seeks a sort of zen serenity, but she hasn't found it yet. It hits her, occasionally— at her best, at her warmest, at her most open, you'll see it quite clearly; she will be distracted from those great moral or worrysome issues that sit in her brain. The rest of the time, though, she'll slip into those internal debates.

As such, she's wildly intelligent. She's capable, quite clearly, of seeing two sides of a debate, and from there formulating where she stands

On the subject of her name— her given name, and the name her family calls her by, is Liata. It makes her incredibly uncomfortable, though she can't define why. She'd really rather be called Lia.

History

Relatively standard. She comes from a moderately sized family with several connections to the healer hall. Her father had some training in the healer hall, and her mother is a full-fledged healer. an older sister also pursued a career in healing, so it made sense for her to enter the hall as well. She is, at the time she enters the game, an apprentice healer, though that will soon change if(?) she gets searched.

Dragon

Silver-gold Queenlet Ramith
From the second Ramith hatched till the day she goes between in old age, she has been and always will be a very beautiful dragon. Long, slender, delicate, this dragon can dance in water, air, and on the very earth. Each and every step is taken with a delicate, thoughtful measure, as if Ramith doesn't want to harm even an ant that might be crawling around. Her lovely, shiny, silver coat is stripped and webbed with a glistening gold. The colors work together to make a dazzling combination, showing her for the queen she truly is.
