Consise/Basics

Name: L'chienne
Nickname: Chien

Position: Grande Weyrlord of Igen
Past Ranks: Weyrleader of Igen Weyr, Candidate, Weyrling, Lord of Igen hold, Guard-lord of Firesands Hold, Officer of the Guard at Firesands Hold, Lower Officer of the guard at Firesands hold

Gender: Male
Sexuality*: Pansexual

  • Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.

Looks

Extraordinarily tall, L'chienne is about 6'3", though his boots frequently make him look taller. He is fair-skinned, though frequently sunburned from long exposure to the elements. His hair comes down to his shoulders and has natural waves; he keeps it immaculately clean. It's a reddish shade of brown, naturally, as is his facial hair, which he also keeps trimmed into a neat goatee. His gray eyes are large and gentle, as are his lips. He keeps his clothing immaculate as possible, and tends to wear formal military garb, complete with sword- thought he sword isn't a dress-sword, it's a functional fighting sabre.

Personality

History

Luchienne was born to a guard family at firesands hold- a minor hold near Igen, technically part of it's territory, that was basically a large guard barracks that had been there for generations. His family were guards, and their family before that had been guards, and before that, more guards: the militaristic structure of the guard was everything Luchienne knew.
He went into it immediately, and quickly ascended the ranks. It helped that his father was an officer, and that he showed great proficiency for fighting and strategy: they bred true, having run in the family for generations.
At the time of his entrance to the guard, Igen Hold proper (where most of their provisions came from) was under the care of a leader under whom Luchienne's family did very well: they were favored by the old lord, having proven their worth in games and true fights alike. Just as Luchienne was ascending through the ranks, the old lord died of age and illness, leaving his son to assume the rank.
This son had not been trained to assume the position, or he ignored his training: either way, he chose to live for himself an incredibly decadent life, and was inept at running a hold, to boot. He didn't concern himself with anything to do with the external affairs of the hold, which meant fewer food stores were available. He stopped the Tithe to Igen weyr, and he stunted the food trains to his sub-holds as much as he dared— and then he stunted them some more, because his own stores had begun to run out.
14 at the time this lord ascended power, Luchienne learned to despise him. He ascended rank quickly, reaching a low officer's position by 17, and having to deal more personally with the lack of food, provisions, and management. By 22, he had taken a high leadership position in the hold, and was growing increasingly more frustrated by the Igen Lord's leadership. His men were too- morale was incredibly low, and people were borderline starving. A few more years of this, and things were getting to a tipping point. The neighboring holds were doing just as badly, he knew, and small rebellions were starting to rear their heads- riots over food. His men had to quash a few, but they did so half-heartedly, and eventually, they stopped trying, letting the small riots go uncontrolled.
It was about this point he attained leadership of Firesands, though promotion; the old General-lord had stepped down, and chosen Luchienne as his replacement.
Luchienne did nothing to quell the riots. Rather, he put them to use. He reinstilled morale in his men with a series of speeches, against the Igen Lord- at this point, he had determined he could run things better, and his men had the right of it. It was time to change the leadership, by force of necessary.
Luchienne started small. First he went to one of Igen Subholds he knew to be having problems. That lord was still loyal to the Igen lord, however, and refused his offer. Undeterred, Luchienne tried his other neighbor, also a guard hold- and this time struck gold. They, also frustrated, were willing to join ranks and put a stop to this madness. Together, they stormed the first hold, who had refused them, executed the lord, and added it to the beginnings of their small empire.
Luchienne then issued an ultimatum to Igen's Lord- Get out, or get conquered. Igen's lord laughed at this, not realizing just how serious this situation was— he figured it out fast, when the forces of three holds were marching on his gates. Igen hold was besieged for three weeks before Luchienne's army managed to breach the gates and storm the hold. Luchienne executed Igen's Lord personally, letting his lady into exile and putting the children into care specially orchestrated by him— couldn't risk them growing up and planning his ultimate demise.
Met with this success, Luchienne rested on his laurels for a month. As Lord Holder of Igen, he came to realize the problem Igen has was not just individualized to the Igen region- unrest was all over pern. People were hurting or dissatisfied.
He could fix that. All pern needed was unification, and freedom from these selfish Lord Holders who took so much for themselves and gave so little back. So little! So, he chose to approach the Weyr.
He went diplomatically, extending them the courtesy of a dinner at Igen. The weyrleaders took this offer, meeting him at his table in Igen, where Luchienne proceeded to tell them of his master plan: Unification. Unification of Pern. Under one free rule, people could be happy; there would be none of this greed, that so motivated people to cruel extremes. Pern would be a prosperous place once more, able to handle any obstacle thrown at it- earthquakes or people alike!
The weyrleaders were dubious, but thought his goals good- their dinners and debates became more and more frequent, and rumors— which had already been spreading liberally throughout pern— became louder and more insistent: Luchienne was seducing Igen Weyr's leadership into cahoots with him. Talk was even that he had convinced them to let him stand, as a candidate, for a dragonet! But that couldn't possibly be true…
But it was. At Igen's next hatching, on the stands was Luchienne, and even more ludicrously, he managed to Impress. The warlord handed Igen Hold off to the hands of a trusted, trusted governor (who deferred to L'chienne, though this was not generally known.),
The rumor mill out of Igen was silent for two turns, after that; people thought, perhaps, that L'chienne's ambitions had run out. But no: he had only had a lull to focus on weyrlingood. His dragon grew fast, and with it grew his ambitions, matched and fueled by his dragon's. Then the senior gold next flew, it was L'chienne's dragon who caught, making him Weyrleader.
He had no intentions of stopping there. He announced to the weyr, itself, that he intended to unify pern under his rule! He would use the dragons, he would use his armies, and Pern would know peace and fairness under one ruler! All those who didn't want to support him were free to leave; the rest could stay, and revel.
It seems this is only the beginning.
