Consise/Basics
Name: Krofud
Nickname: Kro
Position: Wher candidate
Past Ranks: Holdless
Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pan
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Hair color: Black with streaks of grey.
Eye color: Gray
Build: Scrawny, tall.
When people hit their teenage years, they typically get gangly and tall. This certainly happened to krofud, but she never seemed to even out. She's 5'11", and her features are thin and long. She looks somewhat horselike, and also somewhat fragile— like she didn't drink enough milk as a kid and now her bones will break very easily. She certainly doesn't look very strong, with little in the way of defined muscle. Her eyes are bright, though, and her grin is slight;y predatory. Her hair is black, starting to take streaks of grey as proof of her age and her stressful lifestyle. It's naturally somewhat wavy, and she doesn't take much care of it besides keeping it clipped to her chin at it's longest, so it's frequently really messy.
Personality
Likes: Whers, cats, fish [for eating], some flowers and bathing.
Dislikes: People, children, not being able to bathe regularly, untrained firelizards, people who stare.
Fears: being the center of attention, dragons.
Goals: Do her own thing, maintain her own freedom.
Quirks Dislikes dragons and keeps her distance from them, chews nails.
If there's anyone in this world that Krofud's out for, it's herself.
It's hard to even call her attitude selfish, because of how little Krofud considers other people. For the most part, in Krofud's world, there is only one person- it's her. Other animals exist, sure, and nature exists— she likes all of that, and when living in the wilderness she tries to blend in and be as unnoticeable in the grand scheme of things as possible. Other people, however? Those are something she spares at best a glance for, everyone once in a bygone year.
Krofud doesn't feel much of a social urge. She doesn't really get people, either. Animals, whers— those are much simpler. They lack the minor nuances that people have. Facial expressions, tones of voice, what you do and don't do around other people.. Krofud just doesn't get that kind of shit. That's why she went off and lived on her own in the first place, and that's why she doesn't want to bother with anyone much now.
Krofud is good at surviving on her own, and she likes it that way. She likes the company of beasts, but she rarely misses the company of human beings. She really only goes in society for brief stints at a time, and even then she tends to prefer places that are frequented by few, at hours when few are awake. She's mostly-noctournal already.
The most important thing to krofud is freedom. Freedom to do whatever the fuck you want, whenever the fuck you want to. Laws are constraining. So are social norms. So are houses and dragons and weyrs and everything else. She became disillusioned with all of that from the tender age of 10, and she hasn't looked back now. * The only thing that brought her to Morrigan was morbid curiosity- curiosity about the ideals of freedom it seems to preach, and later curiosity about perhaps getting a wher for herself.
That is, perhaps, Krofud's weakness and what always brings her back around people in the end: curiosity. Her curiosity never ends. She wants to know things and see things. She doesn't really have the will or the patience to study, so she doesn't much do that— but she certainly observes people and draws conclusions from that. She is very watchful, and good at thinking quickly on her feet. She also likes going new places, and seeing new things- she's exploratory.
Krofud is a very strong individual. You have to be, to survive the kind of lifestyle she seems to prefer- and it has taken a toll on her. She looks much older then she is, and no doubt her lifespan will be shorter then that of an average human. She looks rather mangy as well, becuase she's generally unkempt and prefers it that way. That said, she's actually very robust and healthy. That's probably how her life will go- she'll be healthy and strong until she's not anymore, and then she'll go quickly, like an alleycat.
Being a somewhat feral human, Krofud is every inch as fierce as she looks. She's scrawney and she can be mean. She can freaking survive in almost any terrain— holdless, or in the forest, you name it. She prefers the forest because there's less freaking people to deal with. She's tenacious, and when she gets an idea in her head she's not ever going to let go. The strongest idea in her mind is survival, which is always present, but there's plenty room for other goals.
There's something off about Krofud. People generally don't like her, which is absolutely fine with her. Being rather weird and somewhat creepy, she tends to make people nervous. She's also unfriendly, which doesn't help things. That said, she's good at getting what she wants when she wants it.. especially from shadey people. She's streetwise, and knows how to drive a bargain.
Krofud is a scavenger. She doesn't make much bones about quality, so long as things are functional. She eats what she can find that's nutritious, and she'll wear clothing until it literally cannot be worn any longer. She doesn't care if what little she owns is second hand— and she doesn't own much, being somewhat a vocational ascetic. She doesn't like throwing things out, and believes in getting the very last drop of anything useful about anything at all.
Krofud is fairly intelligent. She's certainly witty, and makes sharp observations and says many biting things. If she likes you, she can be funny, and even somewhat friendly- but she'll always be blunt, and she won't care if what she has to say hurts when she says it. Krofud seems to think that much of life is a hilarious, bitterly ironic joke, and sometimes laughs for no reasons. Krofud is very wise, even though she lacks in book-learning. She's actually illiterate, but she doesn't need books anymore. She knows what she needs, and can learn the rest by watching.
Krofud is self-motivated. Her own survival, nad the survival of people who basically ARE her (pets, firelizards, bonds), are all that matters. Everyone else? Fuck'm. Krofud MAY have loyalties that lay outside of herself and her most inner circle.. but if she does, they're sure hard as hell to see.
History
There really isn't much that's known about Krofud. She appeared at Skyguard with a group of refugees from Starfall hold, and it's generally assumed that she once lived amongst them. This actually isn't the case, but she never bothered to correct anyone on that score, and was perfectly happy pretending to be one of those many people who escaped the wreckage of the hold. She stayed at Skyguard for about a turn, but it never really sat well with her: the weyr, after wrangling up those who'd survived the disasters, was too busy and too crowded, which made a person like krofud, who didn't like being seen, nervous. So, she left, and wasn't heard from again.
She spent the next few turns doing mostly what she pleased in some caves to the west of Skyguard Weyr, living largely as she had before the disasters had brought the survivors to Skyguard. The hardest thing to deal with was threadfall- but after a few close calls, she learned to recognize the hazy gray in the sky and stay inside her little cave complex when the sky looked like that.
Krofud assumed that Skyguard was the only place that survivors really went, and that it was the only remaining bastion of civilization. She kept up on the news only by speaking with the occasional traveling wherhandler or trader, whom she let rest for a few days in her little cave complex, and with whom she traded. It was through one of these travelers that she learned of a place other then Skyguard: Morrigan. A few more travelers had more information, and she slowly peiced together what morrigan was and what their ideals were,
She liked what she heard. Thus, about a year ago, she made the decision to leave her little life of hermitude and rejoin society, this time with the rebel weyr. Knowing the surrounding terrain, she helped in the search for the pieces of the meteor, and in return she asked for nothing except a chance to stand for the watchwher clutches, since the beasts had always fascinated her.
