- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Jase looks as cheerful as she is. She's average height, perhaps a touch short, and made of soft curves. She has muscle mass to her, and that muscle mass is covered with a comfortable layer of soft pudge, so she is a curvy woman. Her square face has soft features, with bright brown eyes, and full lips. Her skin is a deep tan, and her hair paradoxically light— almost a dirty blonde. She wears it back in a ponytail most of the time.
Personality
Jase is chronically friendly and cheerful.
Warm and pleasant, she's a very welcoming presence. She acts as if she's known people forever upon first meeting them, very casual and informal. She's also very easy to get along with; she doesn't start fights, she's not very disagreeable, and she's usually up for everything and anything.
She's inherently feminine. She's very comfortable with her womanhood, and, in fact, revels in it. She enjoys doing girly things- wearing makeup, dressing up, all of that but she doesn't need to. She's sensitive and very sweet, and very contact oriented. This usually manifests in hugging and whatnot, though she makes sure people are comfortable prior, and she will take any excuse to cuddle with anybody. She's also fairly sexual, considering sex to be the ultimate expression of human ecstasy and also the best way of celebrating being female, though she won't sleep around with just anyone. She's picky with her people, preferring it to be an expression of mutual affection, even if that's friendship. She also won't sleep with several partners if she's in a committed relationship, but only then.
If there were such a movement on pern as feminism, she would be part of it. She certainly despises all manifestations of sexism, and if she sees one, she will intervene. She will argue with people, if she needs to, and despite her casualness, she's good at wording those arguments. She's had turns of practice.
She doesn't have to prove herself or her capabilities to anyone; she grew up with 7 older brothers, who treated her absolutely no differently from their own. She expects this kind of treatment; she sees people as people, rather then genders. She CAN do anything that boys can do, and she's proved it. She's a smithcrafter, just like her brothers, and her specialty is mechanics. Anything with moving parts, she's good at. When she comes from her smithcrafting, she's usually covered in oil, and she can lift and carry about 100lbs— as much as several men she knows.
She's very affectionate and empathetic; she knows when people around her hurt, almost intuitively, and she seeks to make them happier without trying. Really, this is just an inherent sense of knowing body language, courtesy of her social nature. Her casual informality can be charming, and she relies on it a lot in social situations. In high-class events, she'll probably look terribly out of place— but she can talk up people in runners or smith easily, and so she can break the ice sometimes.
She's fond of animals— though not as fond of them as she is of smithcrafting— and that talent with bodylanguage she has serves her well with them. She's especially fond of runners, and in her spare time races them— her family had runners, and she raced them with her brothers, so she finds it fun to get up on them and race them casually, or even in gathers sometimes. She also enjoys caring for them in her spare time, and wishes she had time for one of her own; she occasionally wonders if perhaps she wouldn't've been good in the herder hall.
She's very independent; no one's making decisions for this girl. This can lead to her being obstinate, if she thinks you're making a decision for her, and being stubborn as a mule. This is sometimes good=— she'll be stubborn about her expertise (no, that's not going to work, I promise you) or about letting people mope (You can't just sit here all day, come on, let's go out and walk!). But she can also be stubborn about silly things, especially if you offend her by talking down to her, which can be an issue. She also opens herself up to manipulation in this way; she's very manipulatable in her own right, because she's so eager to please.
Her interest in whers was actually suggested to her— one of her brothers became a wherhandler recently, and she was very enamored by his little green Jolsk. It was suggested to her that SHE'D make a good wher candidate, so she decided on a bit of a whim to take the offer. She wouldn't suffer from putting her studies on hold for a few months, and it might be fun to go stay at the weyr for awhile.

Rum Tum looks smug. With bright green eyes and a veritable saunter, this cat seems to own the world. His fur is always gleaming and usually in good shape, and is a bright orange, with uneven strips of darker orange crossing it in waves.
Rum Tum is very definitely a Cat. Any interactions with him need to be on his own terms, thank you very much! If you come near him when he isn't into it, he will prance away. Try to pet him when he's not in the mood and he'll bite at you. He won't come when called, and he absolutely won't do as asked. However, if he wants affection, he will rub against your legs and take all the affection you can give him. He refuses to be fed when offered food, so in order to feed him, Jase "forgets" food in high-up places, perfect for him to discover on his own.
