- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Though not very imposing, Havea certainly has a presence to her. She walks with confidence and definately seems like she knows what she's doing. Her chocolate-brown eyes are usually calm, situated above a pointed nose and full lips. She wears her black hair short, choppily layered. Her body is lithe muscle, born from years of working with animals, covered in a layer of softness which lends her some curves.
Personality
Havea is a sweetheart.
A touch shy and initially rather quiet, she's occasionally reluctant to start a conversation, but when that spark is struck, she's great company. She enjoys the company of other humans (and animals), and will talk for hours on any number of warm topics. She's sweet and friendly, once you're past the shyness.
Havea is greatly concerned with the emotional world. She wants to lead a rich, warm life, and she wants most of her friends to lead the same. She wants to be fulfilled, emotionally, and actively makes attempts to be happy; if she's missing company, she'll branch out to her friends.
Havea has the patience of a saint. This is most frequently expressed in her work training animals: she's incredibly patient and incredibly gentle, and as a result, the hunting dogs she turns out are very reliable and calm. She's also got a good eye for people and dogs alike- she can pick out which dogs have the proper traits to be a hunter (drive, stability), and she can generally do that slightly with people, too. Her patience is applicable to children and people, though she'd rather apply it to animals, to be honest.
She's very nervous about the world, and about the implications of ill-treatment of other people: she's of the opinion that people have a basic right to exist and prosper, regardless of whether they're strait, gay, or any other trait you can apply to them. That others disagree makes her wary and nervous, especially around new people.
Very generous, Havea will share what she has with almost anyone; she doesn't believe in greed. She'll gift her friends lavishly when she can afford it, and has even been known to give people firelizard eggs on their turndays.
Very honest, the only way to really get on Havea's bad side is to be subversive or to lie to her. She hates it when people spy on her, tell rumors about her, or hide things from her. Though she'll frequently soften cruel truths, she strives to always tell the truth, and to be emotionally and generally genuine in her every day life.
Very sweet, Havea is affectionate. She'll initially hold off with new people, but her affection will become clear eventually. Especially physical affection: it comes naturally to her and she likes to express it, but she's wary about doing this initially. She needs permission, but when she has it she'll cuddle with most everyone, especially lovers.
History
Born and raised in Fort Hold, Havea for a long time was your average chick. She was born to holders, out of craft, though often maintained an interest in animals: she'd frequently ask to be assigned to the stables or, more often, the kennels, for her chore rotations.
At the age of 11 she compounded this interest by joining the beastcraft as an apprentice. For a few turns she left fort, going to the main hall to ploy her trade, and learn the basics. She knew her specialty immediately: canines, and so she began every step to take classes for that beside her ordinary beginning classes.
After about 2 turns at the hold, she was allowed to be assigned back to Fort hold, to continue her studies there. Things were going fantastically, for awhile- it was great to be home, and she took up training the canines of the Hold for various tasks— especially for hunting.
This made her a fast friend with the tanners, many of whom relied on hunting for things to tan, in addition to trading. One in particular became a close friend: Fros, who was a few turns older then her.
Fros had a taste for girls, and that was something Havea shared.. so the two quickly became more then friends, sharing a bed. They managed to escape notice, for two reasons: no one assumed their relationship was anything more then close friendship, and they were careful.
Nevertheless, things began to grow strained at the hold, with sexuality-relations; not between Havea and Fros, but around others. Rumors and bad blood were starting to go around. People were making threats against homosexuals and occasionally carrying them out.
Fros was the first to escape. She sought to leave the hold, and found an exit with the watchwhers- she quickly made her way to where she could Impress one of her own, in the process leaving Havea. It was mutually agreed upon, but it was still bittersweet to say goodbye, and to promise to keep in touch.
Shortly after Fros left, things at the Hold reached a fever pitch. The lord's son was revealed to be gay, and that didn't go over too terribly well with his father. The lord beat his son and the son quickly left, seeking sanctuary at Benden weyr.
Havea has been very reluctant to leave Fort, but things have begun to push her out as well- she's been wavering on the decision, b ut hasn't wanted to leave the place of her birth, her home.
