Gender: Female
Sexuality*: Pansexual
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Short, you wouldn't be threatened by Graev upon first impression. Her form is soft, curvy, and low to the ground. She's usually got a serene smile on her oval-shaped face; one that's perhaps just a bit too long, which is slightly off-putting. Her hair is short, and a deep auburn-red tone, though she usually covers it with a bright-red bandanna. Her eyes are a neutral gray, and her skin is a strange sort of dull-ruddy color. Her nose is a bit long, and slightly hook shaped. She tends to wear loose, flowing clothes— though skirts are more her forte then pants are— and is fond of brightly colored sashes and vests in reds and brown-tones.
Personality
Graev thinks she owns the world.
Or maybe she doesn't— it's hard to get inside this girl's head. She certainly acts as if she does, however; with her natural saunter of a stride and the big grin that she's usually wearing, she seems to be completely comfortable, and completely in control. This is the case even in the midst of chaos— and possibly, the midst of chaos is where she's most comfortable.
It's arguable as to whether or not Graev has morals. It doesn't seem like she does, or at the very least, it doesn't seem like her morals align with those of the rest of society. The former is the case; she does have some kind of honor code, and she actually lives by it closely— it's just that no one really has any idea what that moral code is, and she's not telling anybody. She does seem to pass by people in genuinely bad situations— she won't steal from someone who needs everything they have to survive, and she won't hit people when they're down.
Graev is a creature with a vice-list as long as her arm, or longer. You name the vice, and she probably participates at least occasionally. She's an absolutely avid gambler; she'll take odds and play any card game, and it doesn't matter exactly what they are. She might skip town instead of pay up, too— or she'll pay you and steal her losses back. Greed is another one of her vices; she'll do almost anything for the right price. She has a fascination for anything shiny, and she'll grab up anything shiny she sees that's unattended, from jewelry to eating utensils. Petty theft, pocketpicking and general kleptomania are all her past-times, though she does these in phases; she'll go long periods of time without stealing, until she's bored enough or she needs something. A fondness of sex and drinking goes without saying.
One of her bad habits concerning her bad habits is cheating; she gets what she wants, even through illicit means. Cheating at cards, cheating the odds, you name it; she'll do it, if the stakes are high enough. She'd probably cheat at relationships, too, if she bothered to acquire any.
Graev also doesn't fight fair; she'll bite and kick someone in the manbits, if she needs to. This may be slightly odd, considering her fondness for fighting— she really doesn't back down from a challenge. She's not a verbal spitfire, but she could be considered the physical equivalent. She is a violent individual. Her favorite form of being violent is hitting things with heavy objects.
She's not entirely keen on being noticed, however. If she gets a reputation, she's doing something wrong— thieves don't like to be known as thieves. So she'll push the envelope, but she'll try to withdraw before she actually pushes it enough to spark more then mild concern or rumors. She'll keep her barfights small, she'll stop stealing at a certain pre-set point, or if someone notices her. She'll play the rules if she's being trailed, etc. Anonymity— or as close to it as possible— is her goal with this sort of thing. She won't kill people.
For this reason, her violence doesn't get exercised very often, except perhaps in hunting. She's prone to hunt for her own food, even if she doesn't need to, because she's really, really fond of hitting things over the head and then skinning them. It's important to note that only certain animals will illicit this ire out of her— namely, the ones you can eat. She's very fond of most other animals. Especially cats; cats have this independence that she can respect.
The other way she likes to exercise this violent tendency is by breaking things. Loudly. She's got this fondness for loud noises, especially when they're least expected. She loves to crack wood, for instance, or smash glass— especially smashing glass. It makes such a wonderful, pretty noise, and it sends shiny, colorful bits everywhere! How can you not love that.
Graev's loyalties are questionable; the only people you can be sure that she'll be loyal to are the people closest to her, and you probably won't know who those people are, even if you're one of them. It's pretty certain that anything attached to her is in her circle— her wher, for instance, or any pets she acquires. Otherwise, she's incredibly independent; she doesn't like announcing her loyalties.
Definitely reckless, Graev is something of a tomboy; she always has been. She doesn't care about gender; it doesn't occur to her. Insulting women in front of her won't get her ire up; she might even laugh about it and joke alongside. Insulting men, similarly. She's always run with a sketchy crowd, most of which was masculine; femininity is basically unknown to her. You won't catch her wearing makeup unless it's soot, and dresses might as well not exist.
Graev doesn't talk much, and when she does talk, it's not usually in complete sentences. She'll consider her words carefully before saying them— not for political correctness or anything, but to make sure they're accomplishing exactly what she wants them too— and then she'll say them raw, without bothering to package them up in sentences. Rarely. Much like her wher, actually. Her natural mode is very quiet; this, and her grin, can make her seem a bit creepy.
Despite her fondness and comfort in the midst of chaos, she's a very serene creature; it's almost as if she draws her inner-calm from lots of things happening around her, even if she's participating in it. She's calm in the middle of a fight, in the middle of some crazy heist, anything like that. It's when she's surrounded by nothing— or, paradoxically, the silence she frequently seeks to emulate— that things in her head start getting tempestuous.
Whatever else she is and does, Graev is no holds barred. Her greatest loyalty is to herself. She's having a great time.
History
Graev didn't start at Heartland Weyr. Not it's first incarnation, not even it's location after the flood. Where she did start is a very good question. She doesn't tell people. That would be volunteering information, which would be far, far too helpful.
The truth of the matter is that she started out holdless, the daughter of a prostitute and a gambler. She picked up a lot of good tricks from her mother— particularly how to gamble and how to handle herself in a fight. She stayed holdless, making a living primarily through cons and occasionally small robberies until the age of about 14.
Then things changed. she didn't so much as become un-holdless as get it into her head that a wher might be useful, and that she wanted to have a bit of fun, too. She went to a minecrafthall and volunteered herself to be a wherhandler candidate, and stayed juuust long enough to trick her way into standing for a clutch. She managed to get an egg from the golden queen, and as soon as she was out of the den and the egg situated, she left— essentially stealing the egg she'd been given. Go go lawlessness!
Graev's heist was met with success, surprisingly, even though she was moving slower then she'd've liked with the wher egg: she'd managed to find herself a pretty safe, hidden cavern before she'd bothered to go through with the plan, and had set it up with everything she'd need to hatch the egg. That didn't take too long to occur; soon the egg was cracking, and her little bronze Graesk had pulled himself, wet and dripping, from his egg. She was ready with raw meat and her own blood, and the bond was set.
They stayed there just long enough for Graesk to grow enough to travel, and then they curtailed it out of there as fast as possible, and spent a few turns wandering. They found good employment as bodyguards for travelers and caravans, which lasted them comfortably a few years.
Their travels eventually brought them to Heartland Weyr, shortly after the weyr had moved with the floods. They had been accompanying a band of harpers coming to provide relief to the weyr, which was still setting up in it's new location. It was the first time Graesk had ever been around others of his own kind, and he found that he rather liked it— or, rather, he liked the easy accessibility to females and runs. So, for the comfort of her wher, because he'd served her so well on their admittedly strange and trial-some set of adventures, she decided to stay at the weyr.. at least for a little while. She hasn't left yet. Who knows if she ever will.

Graesk
Bronze M Wher
Graesk is Big Wher. Despite the fact that he's only the size of a small bronze (which isn't terribly small, in the run of things), he gives the impression of hugeness; his form is heavy-set and muscular, with a thick neck and a blunt head. A creamy honey-bronze tone seems to be his base tone; it's bright and untouched on his paws, almost golden, and it darkens as it climbs up his legs. As it climbs, it seems as if it's been burned; by the time it reaches the center of his body, it's a darker, ruddy shade of the same shade dominating his form. Soot=bronze starts to dominate at that point; it collects thickly on his wings and his dorsal line. Solid darkness covers his wings, and a stripe of similar darkness starts at the tip of his nose and continues down his back, shading slightly downwards around his face, eyes, neck, torso and tail. As it goes downwards, it turns into rough streaks of soot, gathering more strongly on his shoulders and jaws.
Firelizards
Idiosync
Green F Firelizard
On the smaller end of the adult spectrum, Idiosync is a pretty little green. Her form isn't as muscular as they come, though her hide is always gleaming at it's brightest; the creature is quite vain. She has right to be- wonderful bright sea-green wash over much of her body, teased into a grassy tone on her underbelly by the deeper greener tones that coat and rise up her legs.
