Name: Feng
Nickname:
Position: Candidate
Past Ranks: Holdless, Refugee, Candidate, Lower-caverns-person
Wing:
Former Wing:
Gender: Female (see oocnotes)
Sexuality*: Pan, leaves very heavily towards women, leans heavily towards effeminate men
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Brown
Build: Huge, muscular, blocky
When looking at Feng, it's really hard to place her in.. any kind of category. The most you can do is kind of.. assume she's female, because her physicality is rather unclear. She is large, and very little of her bulk is fat. She's about 6', and her frame is muscular. Her features are blunt and blocky. Her hair she keeps short, and slightly spiked up. She tends to wear loose clothing that is well worn. Her skin is a moderate tone. She looks like she could kick your ass without trying, and she works out to keep that appearance up. In fact, her muscles are about he only part of her appearance she works to maintain.
Personality
Likes: Being respected, hitting things with other things, cats, dogs, and watchwhers
Dislikes: annoying people, children, tunnelsnakes (she likes to hunt them), being bored, and not being able to drink.
Fears: Permanently not being able to drink, people finding out about her former rank
Goals: Earn Respect or earn fear.
Quirks Tends to drink if bored or upset [or at all], can't keep money.
Feng is detrimentally curious. What's that over there? She wants to know. If it's something that's probably going to hurt her, she still wants to know. If it's definitely going to hurt her.. well, she's not going to stick her nose in it, as she otherwise might, but she's still going to circle around it and perhaps give it a good poke with a stick.
Feng is also not particularly patient. Truth be told, she's easily frustrated, and prone to rash behavior. Impatience is in her blood, as is reckless behavior, and she does both of them well. Leaping to conclusions seems to be a special skill, and often times she'll go along with a plan for no other reason then it seems interesting or like it might cause a good ruckus.
Finesse is not one of Feng's strongpoints, unless it's in very specific tasks. Feng is surprisingly nimble, and things requiring quick movements or grace she does very well at. Considering her appearance, this is surprising— which is something she likes to use to her advantage. She's every inch as strong as she looks, but when people are looking, she acts a little bit more clumsy, too, so they don't expect her blunt fingers to be capable of picking locks like she does. She plays this game with intelligence too. She's not particularly wise, we'll give her that, and she is prone to reckless behavior, but she's not stupid.. She'll act dumber then she is, and keep her conclusions and strength of mind quietly in her head, so that people don't expect her to be capable of her own realized potential. Finesse with words, however, or diplomacy? That just strait up isn't one of Feng's strong points.
Of course, there is much of Feng that is completely what she seems at surface level. Blunt, almost incapable of mincing her words. She can be incredibly callous. Feng does honesty really really well. Feng does bluffing well too, but you wouldn't expect it, for reasons outlined above- and usually, unless bluffing will get her something she wants, she's not going to bother. She's going to say what she says as naked as it was when it occurred to her mind. She doesn't care how much that delivery will hurt.
Similarly, she's a bawdy, rowdy creature- a natural party animal. She likes drinking, women, eating, drumming, drinking, dancing wildly, drinking, women, wrestling, drinking, women, having sex, and singing while drunk. She is not particularly skilled at restraining herself, sober or otherwise- if it occurs to her, there's a pretty damn good chance that she's going to do it. Why? because she can, and because it might be fun.
Feng is proud. Boasting is one of many things Feng does with much pleasure and skill. It doesn't really matter if the boasts are true— even if their obvious lies, she delivers them with impressive gusto. Humility is not in this person's lexicon. Neither is fear. Bravery, courage.. those things are second nature, and they don't seem to be borne of any particular virtue, either. Feng likes fighting, be it against wild beasts she's hunting, people in a drunken brawl, or thread in the air. Being afraid simply didn't occur to her- she was too busy charging forward to kick some ass and take some names (if she happens to remember).
But remember- as we said, she's not entirely stupid. She's not going to take on what she knows she can't win. Survival is more important to her then a blaze of glory— after all, you can't brag if you're dead. When blunt force can't get her through something, she'll pull out her more street-wise abilities— lock picking, sneaking, stealth. There are other ways around then through the front door, if you get our meaning.
She likes excitement, and chaos. Being a chaotic creature, busy atmospheres are her most comfortable environment. If things are boring, she can fix that. She's a mischievous soul, in her heart of hearts— and a devious one. She has an almost intuitive sense about how to cause trouble, and she goes at it with almost as much gusto as she employs when bragging about herself.
What's she hoping to get out of life? It's simple, really. She's out for fun, adventure, glory, women, booze, and more women. The more the better.
She does tend to compulsively spend her money as soon as she has it, so one thing you can be sure of around Feng- she's probably broke.
History
Feng was actually born to a prostitute in a brothel in a lesser-known and lower populated hold. Her early years were spent in that brothel, and she was wanting for much in the way of attention. She essentially raised on the streets, and grew into the life of a holdless person very quickly. Picking pockets and breaking through locks became an art she proudly perfected, and by the age of 10 she was real damn good at breaking into places she wasn't supposed to be and conning random people out of their dinners.
So it looked like her life would continue, until the hard lifestyle of the holdless did her in or the guards caught her, until the disasters happened. They were actually somewhat of a boon to Feng. They came so quickly, and so strongly, that everything changed almost literally overnight. The hold was destroyed in a particularly nasty set of earthquakes and aftershocks, which- through the grace of luck- she managed to escape with only minor injuries. Those earthquakes made everyone equal, and nobody bothered to make sure that the refugees hadn't been holdless before the destruction of their hold. It was a great equalizer: everyone was the same rank.
So the refugees went to Skyguard, amongst the first group to make their way there. Feng reveled in this, since no one knew of her past life or tendencies, and she continued to work her skills— mostly to no effect, since many of skyguard's resources were shared, and there was rarely anything more valuable then flour behind locked storeroom doors. Nevertheless, you can never say when lockpicking might come in useful.
Feng requested to stand as a candidate two and a half turns ago [from 2965 spring], and was approved. She stood without success until the spring of 2963, whereupon a friend of her's dog had puppies. She was offered one of those puppies, and Feng took a break from candidacy to attempt to raise one of said pups and train it properly. Now that the dog- whose name is Teeth, despite being about as violent as a tomato- is 2 and completelty trained, so Feng is once again standing as a candidate.
