Universal Dragonet Preferences

I genuinely tend to love every dragonet I get, and I choose games partially on baby-writing, but here's what I've got in terms of preferences. What's on this page are my ideals, basically— I don't want people to go too far out of their comfort zones or the norms of their games. If you give me a dragonet on your game, and you've put effort into itand made it for my character, I'm probably going to adore it. <3

In general, detail! The more detail the better! Also, in terms of priority, personality is the most important thing to me, followed by appearance, followed by axillary, optional things like mindvoice.

Also, I know my preferences are abnormal. A lot of people like non-detailed dragonets and think that detail is limiting— that's fine! In no way are my preferences meant to be a judgment on other people! It's just what I like, and it's partially because of my pernese history and partially because of my quirks. I need detail, especially in the personality section, because I am not particularly creative— I'm not the sort that develops a character out of nowhere. If I don't have concrete details, all of them meld together and bleed into one another, and I can't really.. get into their heads. I operate strangely, and that's why I have these requests. One of the beauties of any group of people, pern game or otherwise, is that we're all different and our differences can work together- so my preferences shouldn't be used to measure anyone else's, or considered more valid or less valid. It's just what I like, what I'm comfortable with and what I need to play things to the best of my ability. :3 This should certainly not be expected to bleed into other people, whose methods are probably very different from mine.

Appearance

This is second priority to me. I like having colorful, unique dragons. The descs don't have to be paragraphs long, but I would like some detail.
Body-type differences is nice— not necessarily full-out mutations, but specific details about their features or body-types is appreciated. Average is fine too.

I'll admit that of highest priority is their coloration; I like colorful dragons. I like markings, at least, and variations in color and hue. Lots of markings is great, too, or complicated markings; a few different shades of their color on one dragon. I even like it when there are hints or hues of other colors on a dragon, if it's withen the context of the game; a few small blue markings on a green, for instance, or some yellower patches.

My ideal with this is the sort of variation and complication you see on the Mu's (Which are canon). For examples: the bronze I got on one, A simpler blue, a simpler green.
Some of the dragons I've created for myself: a blue, copper, Bronze wher, Green, Brown, green
A lot of the mu dragons are based on themes, which the writer tries to translate physically onto what a dragon would look like, non-literally. It makes some spectacular babies.

Which isn't to say you need to make me something superchaotic for me to love it, or even that i'm insisting for you to go out of your way to make me a marked up dragon. I've got some simple ones I really adore, like crenith, who is one shade of pale brown, or wilenth, who has only faint gradients of darker green on her tail and headknobs. :3

Personality!

This is the most important thing to me, when it comes to babies.
Firstly, I Want them to work with my character— but that will have it's own section in the preference.
Here's where I LOVE detail. I can expand something that's super-detailed, so don't worry about constraining me! The more detail you give me, the better; i play candidates partially for the challenge of playing out their counterpart that someone else wrote. I don't like always playing stuff I've got a lot of creative control over, because I tend to have a range I work within and don't expand outside of— detailed dragonets allow me to expand outside of that, and develop characters i might not otherwise do. A dragonet I didn't write will always have a different spin then one i did write, with the character it's paired with, and that difference is what makes playing the pair so wonderful to me.

So, that said! The more I know, the better!
Which isn't to insist that you write your heart out excessively, or spend extra time. Just.. that's what I like.

My ideal is the sort of things you got on the mu's, as usual— that's where i've spent the most time, and where i'm coming from, which is why my preferences from from there. They throw out some spectacular babies. Examples: the favorite dragon I've EVER impressed, close second for my favorite, My beautimus bronze, Andiacuth, Xulith.
Note that the first two were written by several people. The last three were only written by one, but that one person had a lot of time to write them. ._. It's an unrealistic standard for forum games. :D

Most of my characters start out as a list of words, phrases, ideas, etc, that are 10-20 strong, anyway. So yeah, if I'm given one of those, I can definitely glean the info from them fine enough!

Once again, not asking you to go out of your way for me, or anything. I just do prefer more detail. I will love whatever you give me, though I will love it even more the more details are in it.

Matching them up!

A dragonet matching it's candidate is very important to me, though I'm lenient on exactly what this means.
Basically, I want all of my characters to have good relationships with their dragons. Loving, mutually beneficial relationships. I don't want dragons who are malicious to their riders specifically, always at odds with them, cruel to them, etc.
That said, that doesn't mean that opposites are out of the question, or that the dragons have to be the same as their riders. Differences are wonderful! opposites are wonderful! Similarities are wonderful! As long as they work together, and aren't clashing I'm okay. So yeah. :D

Color?

This is the part I usually don't care about! Match my characters to whatever fits! Occasionally one will have a specific non-preference, but otherwise, Whatever you choose to do fits!
I do have a mild preference towards noncanon colors to canon colors, but this is a very mild preference. Seriously, a well-written anything is lovely.
Do not, however, use color as a reward system for my characters. I want my characters to be paired up with something that actually suits them. (Though not necessarily based on personality-stereotypes; I love it when a dragonet breaks from it's personality stereotype in either small or large ways. Either way, though, I'm gold!) I don't like it when people toss out greens to people they don't like or as a sort of punishment— any dragon I get is a reward, I don't want it treated so lightly or as a punishment. ._.;

Cross-impression

Meaning, tossing female creatures to my male characters and vice versa. Dude, I'm totally cool with it! I frequently love it! If there's a specific character I don't think it would work for, I'll say so on the ap- otherwise, by all means. If it suits the character, cross impress!

Mindvoice!

I like mindvoices, but it's not totally needed, of course! :D It's just a nice detail. If your game doesn't write mindvoices, please don't feel the need to on my account!
I like the specific voice-tones, too, and i also like it when the mindvoice includes impressions of things that aren't voices, specifically. What the Mu's do- where the mindvoice and the mindvoice give the impression of things which aren't vocal; the impression of snows, for instance, the whine of a flute, rain spattering across a rock wall. What hte Mu's do.

A long example of this might be:
Throughout all of this will be the feeling of running water, sometimes warm and soft, sometimes icy and biting. When it's just the two of you, it will most often feel like a warm, summer rain: exactly at body temperature so it almost feels like there is nothing there, but with just enough pressure against your skin to tell you otherwise — like an evening rain after a blistering summer day, refreshing, comforting, satisfying. Such will be Hydasnth's touch in your mind.

or
His mind will be awash with bright colors, cheerful most times. He leans more towards the purples and greens of life, but isn't afraid to throw in a dash of red and yellow for a change of paces. Accompanying his thoughts will be the unmistakable smell of cheese and nuts. Rich smells to go with bright thoughts, as he is a man and food is never too far off from his thoughts. When he's sad, most color and scent will drain from his thoughts, leaving a pale echo of his normal self to try and make up for the fact that he's not well.

Both of those come from the Mu's, and mindvoice in general is optional. :3

Theme

I loved themed dragonets, but it's not something I'm completely attached to! So, if there is a theme, awesome! If there's not, still awesome! I do ask that if it is a themed clutch, they not stick so closely to the origin of their theme that that's all they are— use it as a base point, and then expand, if at all possible? Also, if it's not a theme I'm familiar with, explain it a bit? I'm not up to date with most animes, or a lot of things, so if I'm impressed with a dragon who is like x character, I'm still going to need to be explained what x character is like. :x

Continued ramble on theme, as later expressed-
I like these, but I want them to be loose. I.e, please don't give me clones. Inspirations/based on is fine, but I don't want to play an exact copy of character X, dragonified. There are three reasons: A, I'm proud of the fact that my own characters are original, B, I don't play canons from things because I feel horrible if I get them wrong, and C, I'm not familiar with a lot of the shows/books/things people base dragons off anyway. So give me abstract connections or loose bases. I don't mind if it's a very loose likeness, or it has a handful of traits from them, or a line can be drawn from one to another.. but i don't want something that IS that character, exactly written. Points for abstract themes/multiple bases. Draw a few traits from this character, a few from that. add a few traits inspired by how you interpret some vague theme like "love.." etc. Just… no clones, please. I don't care if other people do this, I don't have anything against the practice, but I really don't want to do it myself. It's just not my thing.
