Name: Dorse
Nickname:
Position: wherling, Journeyman Dragonhealer
Past Ranks: Apprentice healer, Apprentice dragonhealer, Journeyman dragonhealer, Wher-Candidate
Gender: Male
Sexuality*: Pan
- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Dorse is a somewhat short man, at 5'5", but that doesn't stand in the way of his intensity. He's usually frowning or glowering, and his otherwise friendly-looking features don't really soften things. He's got sandy-colored hair that's worn relatively short and otherwise ignored; he doesn't have time for things like primping. His skin is a creamy pale, and burns easily. His nose is just a liiittle too big for his face, and his lips are full and wide. His green eyes are likewise large, and would be friendly if not for the perpetual scowl.
Personality
There isn't much in the world that Dorse doesn't take seriously. Life is a very serious affair. He hasn't got time for dawdling or playing around or wasting time or any of that nonsense. As such, he comes across as fairly severe, and the scowl that's usually planted firmly on his face doesn't help that impression.
He doesn't approve of much. He doesn't really disapprove of much, either, but the scowl is how he views the world— generally unsurprised and unamused. He doesn't mean to be a spoilsport, and he might even relax if he wasn't so much of a workoholic— he just has things that he needs to get done. He's very efficient, and is concerned with doing things properly and efficiently. If he tells a patient not to move it's wings, for instance, he's not going to be very sympathetic if they pull a wing-muscle from breaking his guidelines.
He's not a very patient person— he speaks briskly, and while he won't snap maliciously or anything, his bedside manner isn't the best. He's very blunt and matter-of-fact, and also reliable. You can count on his advice as probably being hte best available, though by the same token you can count on it being delivered without a sugar-coating.
He's surprisingly witty— he usually has a retort for things, and is fairly skilled at word-play. Dorse is also very much a scholar; he keeps meticulous records, and looks over the meticulous records of other when he as any reason to. He likes reading and enjoys the company of harpers, especially those skilled in debate. He enjoys more philosophical conversations, though he doesn't have them often— of higher priority are more concrete subjects.

History
Dorse was born into dragonhealing. His parents were both dragonhealers, and before that his father's father, and his father's father's father.. and so on. As long as anyone's bothered recounting histories, it's been mostly dragonhealers and the occasional regular-healer, and perhaps the anomalous dragonrider here and there… but no one much likes talking about them.
As such, he's been helping out with dragonhealing as long as he's been capable of holding instruments. He developed no fear of stressed-out dragons; ichor doesn't even make him twitch, and nasty infections make him peer forward curiously. He has absolutely no qualms about sticking his head in dragonmouths— or occasionally climbing in— to examine a dragon's teeth. Any tendency to cringe away from the more gross aspects of healing anything never had a chance to develop, and his curious nature made him a perfect candidate for the job.
He was already relatively familiar with the job when he went on to pursue his official apprenticeship— he'd been helping out his parents for turns, and already knew most of the basics anyway. It didn't take him very long to attain journeymanship.
After becoming a journeyman, he was assigned to Telgar weyr— away from his parents in Igen, partially to ease the thought that they might go easy on him (far from the truth) and partially because he wanted a chance to prove himself independently. He studied at Telgar hard, and worked closely under dragonmasterhealer F'nix of brown Maluth— until Maluth died in an accident, of course. That threw a bit of a snag in his studies, as his old master descended quickly into a drunkard state— but he didn't let him hold him up for long.

Wher
Dorsk
Brown M Wher
He is a light, sandy tan, which fades to a slightly darker brown hue. Either way, this wher isn’t very dark. His hide is, however, speckled with small brown spots, almost impossible to see unless you carefully observe him. His coloring is surprisingly devoid of any red or rich hue, which most browns possess. Unlike some of his larger siblings, he is not large, not at all. However, he is certainly not small. He is about average, with a surprisingly generic body shape. However, his shape deviates slightly from most whers’ forms in one way: he is extremely bulky. All whers are bulky of course, but he dwarfs all of his siblings in width and muscle structure. He is almost appalling in regards to his strength.
