Looks
In height and stature, Ditani is resolutely average. Her face is angular and pointed, with an aqualine nose and large eyes. Those eyes are somewhere between hazel and green, and which shows more depends on her surroundings. Her skin is pale for a Pernese, and she has a tendency to burn in the sun. Her hair is black, and when possible she keeps it to the length of her shoulders. To her dismay, it is naturally wavy, and curves out at the ends.
Personality
Unique Qualities: energetic, fast-paced, quick-minded.
Likes: things that are blue, cool water, fruit juice, webspinners, and puppies.
Dislikes: Babies, tunnelsnakes, and her aunts.
Strengths: Brave, independent, intuitive.
Weaknesses: Stubborn to a fault, occasionally unfriendly or callous, harsh when she doesn't like you. Refuses to ask for help when she needs it.
To those who are not prepared, Ditani can be slightly overwhelming.
She's a very strong person in a lot of ways. She's given to be thoughtful in much of her spare time, and she forms opinions strongly— when she's decided one way or another on something, it's really hard to change her mind. That says, she does very little without thinking long and hard about it- though this isn't often apparent. She'll have discussions in this process, but they'll be speculative and theoretical, and often the people from whom she's getting opinions won't realize that's what she's doing. It will seem like she's arbitrarily come to decisions, but that is not the case; she does nothing unless she's prepared to deal with the consequences, and she decides nothing without being aware of the implications. She's also resilient, and can handle challenges and opposition. Strangely enough, such things seem to give her strength and bring her together. She gets quite pointed in the face of a challenge, and focuses all of her energy on getting through it. Of course, it is important to mention that she only rises to these occasions— she is not a creature of strife, and doesn't go around causing trouble for herself to deal with; it's a stressful process.
She's a very proud person, and while that can give her buoyancy, it also acts as a problem. Ditani is independent. She comes to her own conclusions, and she does her own things. She wants to be the one supremely in control of her life. As a result, she will not ask for help. She is also prone to stress, and isn't very good at dealing with it; it'll express itself privately and explosively most of the time. She doesn't like depending on people, and she doesn't like showing weakness. So, she won't ask for help, and this will backfire on her.
She's also very brave. Stressful situation? She can handle it! Threadfall happening? She'll fly it, when she's a rider. She's not reckless, and of course she feels fear, but it's not going to get her to back down. Ditani is also assertive; she makes no qualms about what she is and what she thinks, and she will be clear about it. She will ask for things, and she will make her points to anybody. She's not overbearing, but she's not about to be rolled over either.
Ditani, surprisingly, is not that blunt around the edges, though. She chooses her words carefully, and she tends to be more subversive then blunt. If possible, she likes diplomatic solutions and going around situations. She's very elegant as an afterthought— she has a natural grace to her actions. Though she's not explicitly vain, she does like looking good: she likes fine clothes and will wear skirts when practical. She's relatively polite, unless the situation calls for otherwise. She likes to think she does things with finesse, and while she's not entirely right in that respect, she does take care to do things neatly.
That said, if she needs to be, she will be blunt. She tries not to be, but if you're being REALLY stubborn or stupid, she's not going to hesitate to put things very simply, and very unkindly. It takes something epic-stupid to do that, but it can happen. She also is very forward with the things she's doing and what she wants. She'll seek diplomatic or subversive means through it, especially for things which are won more easily through cajoling and politics then pushing your way forward, but if you ask what she's after she's going to tell you. She's honest and she doesn't lie very often. She also very rarely compromises.
Ditani usually seems cool and confident, but this is misleading. There's always this air of distraction to her, and that's the accurate thing: she's, in her heart of hearts, a bit nervous and jumpy. This is a weakness to her, and thus she goes to great lengths to suppress it— but all she manages is to keep it from the surface. When she's not doing something or going after something, this is when her nervous side speaks to her. She very carefully keeps it away from her actions, but she'll doubt herself and she'll make mistakes in some political games, and this is the reason why. This voice of nerves does not always hold her back: it also functions as a voice of reason, tempering her more stronger whims and keeping her in check. It's important to her system of balance.
Ditani likes knowledge. She's very smart, and her mind moves quickly— she thinks very fast. Her knowledge of people is almost intuitive- she's surprisingly empathetic, even if she doesn't express it very often. She uses this more to her benefit then anything else: she's good at reading people, so she knows how to get what she wants if she wants to employ manipulation. For the most part, though, all she wants outside of control of her own life is knowledge. She likes learning, and she's good at it. She retains information for a long time. Besides, reading, learning, seeking knowledge and talking to people? all of those things provide outlets for her energy.
When she's not mentally occupied with something, she gets very restless. She's energetic, and she needs to spend that energy. This is where the nerves come in— and, ironically, come from. They function as a voice of reason, yes, but more then that, they manifest in a sort of physical jumpiness and energy. She likes to be moving. Even when she's sitting still, she's wiggling her foot or she's tapping her fingers against something. She runs every morning and she likes to be outdoors. She's physically active.
One thing about her is that she does tend to wear her excitement on her sleeve. She used to have no poker face, but in her younger teens she managed to hide most of her negative emotions when she had them— admittedly behind a cold and haughty facade. However, when she's happy, or excited about something? You'll see it all over her face and posture. She's prone to getting excited about things, too— she's not that serious of a person, despite how much she'd like to be for dignity's sake and how good she is at dealing with problems and learning. There are things she takes seriously— but she likes to be happy, and more often then not she's looking for a good time. Thus, she's excitable, and she's very enthusiastic abotu doing things.
Ditani is vivacious. She puts a lot of energy into everything she does, and she has this chaotic energy everywhere around her, that seems to hang around her. She likes doing things and she hates being bored, so she's usually doing things. She tends to be fairly chaotic— though she does think about everything she does, she does it quickly because her mind moves fast. It may thus seem like she's just doing things arbitrarily, for the fuck of it. She also tends to be a little bit disorganized in her living spaces, though she claims to know where everything is— and she does. She's just living life on a bit faster pace then most people.
Ditani likes life, which makes sense since she's so full of it. A good adjective for her is alive, and while that seems to be ordinary, it's because, as her mother says, she's got life to spare. She likes animals especially, having grown up on a farming cothold. She also likes nature, and feels a deep connection to it. she likes being outside more then she likes being inside, for example. That life and that sense of nature gives her this slightly mystical air. It doesn't help that she cultivates so much knowledge, and seems somewhat mysterious- likes she knows a ton of things and the knowledge just floats around her. She is one of those people who would probably be pretty good at trivia. She's also fairly lucky, by her own account.
Ditani is an odd mix of pessimism and optimism- both at the same time. She hopes large but deliberately tempers herself so as to not be disappointed. She is incredibly fair and will give anyone a chance— but she also holds a grudge. If you've proven yourself untrustworthy or you've slighted her, she will NOT forgive.
she is occasionally stubborn, and occasionally harsh. Especially if she's caught up with something, she'll snap at people. At first meeting or in new situations, she can be kind of quiet and reserved. She is, occasionally, even downright unfriendly, and because she hides negative emotions behind a cool facade, initial meetings aren't always the easiest thing for her.
History
Cerajule grew up a farm girl. Her parents had a prosperous farming cothold off of one of the main holds near Baikal weyr. Her family was fairly large, and she had 3 older brothers, though she was the eldest and only girlchild of the family's 6 children.
She was also the one least interested in her family's lifestyle. Farming was okay, but it was dull. The most interesting thing about it were the animals, and most of her chores did have to do with them.
She stayed at her family's cothold until the age of 16, when they began pressuring her to prepare for marriage. That was traditional, after all. She had no interest in such things, however. She didn't want land. There had to be more to life then just farming and a cothold. She'd always been a fast student, and she'd spent a lot of her spare time in the hold proper — an hour's ride away— plying the harpers for information; she figured perhaps she'd go make a name for herself at the hold.
So she did so. She left her family on relatively good terms, even if they were dubious about her chances of success, and went to the hold to try to make it on her own. She found it was harder then it looked, and began entertaining thoughts of a craft. Her age had been a major deterrent, and unwisely she let it rule her choices more. She was nearing 18 when she was finally getting desperate enough to consider apprenticeship, and at that point they might not have taken her.
It would be her lucky circumstance that she would be in the hold's courtyard when a rider had come to visit: a greenrider, formerly of Baikal weyr, but now of Nashira since the weyr had failed. He was visiting his family, but his dragon took great interest in her, and she was soon told that the green found her a suitable candidate. Granted, there were no eggs on the sand at just that moment- but surely, one of the queens would fly in a month or two, and then she could stand. Delighted, Ditani took the offer. She's been at the weyr for about a month and a half.

Appearance: Cerajule is a big dog, of a mutt-breed. She's half flock-guardian, half-herding dog. She's brown, with black saddle markings, black ears and muzzle, black along her tail, and black feet. Her muzzle is beginning to go grey with age, and she's beginning to walk more stiffly as arthritis sets in.
