As'tor's Dazindivith [copse]

Green Dazindivith

To call Dazindivith dark is an understatement. If she were any darker, she might have to be in a class of her own. The color of a lush green forest at midnight when Pern’s twin moons both offer no shine, Dazindivith seems like a shadow of a dragon, even as she moves. Lithe, graceful on ground and in air, this sinuous beauty seems to hold no fat at all on her body, being rather bony. However, Dazindivith eats like a normal Green would and the only suspect that could steal the fat off of her bones comes naturally for her, even in her old age: high metabolism. Because metabolism does not affect muscle mass most of the time, Dazindivith’s muscles are not affected, and, indeed, when she moves, one can see her leg muscles move under her hide.

At 19.75 feet long, Dazindivith’s size just merges with the larger half of Green dragons. Because of her fatless silhouette, however, the dark green dragon looks much longer than she actually is. Her wings are proportionate to her body but the mainsail of her right wing was burned in the same fire that burned her rider and it Healed together in a fashion that leaves her slightly less quick as she was in the air in her youth before the accident. The burn also travels down her butt, stopping an inch or two after her tail begins.

Dazindivith is not just one uniform dark green color. All four of her paws are a brighter green color which slowly fades into her main coloring. They each fade away at different points and look much like mix-matched socks in that respect. Light green also dapples her underbelly, starting just under her chin and continuing until the beginning of her tail, where the dappling just ends. The same dappling can be seen on her wings, at the ends; each time, the dappling fades away the further into the body (or wings) it reaches.

Personality

Despite her dark appearance and her ability to be stealthy, Dazindivith is actually the light to As’tor’s dark. She shares many of As’tor’s personality traits while dispelling the ones that would otherwise turn her into a dragon with a personality completely like her rider. Her most dominant trait, though, is one As’tor is completely devoid of, and that’s sheer optimism. She thinks she can do anything, and do everything really good, no matter what the consequences and no matter what the cost. But she has her limits, and that’s mainly As’tor, as he brings her nearly superhero complex down with his grounding differences. Dzindivith is not the dragon one would want to call upon when trying to remember something, but when it comes to intelligence, if she can drag it out of As’tor’s mind, she’s all over it. She’s able to approach a subject from right or left or back or front and often answers things for As’tor even when the answer is on the tip of his tongue.

[However, Dazindivith is as equally impatient as her rider, and has become slightly paranoid like As’tor from the Turns the two have spent Searching in the North, though she became paranoid for a different reason than her rider. Also because of those Turns, a once innocent dragon has turned into a stealth-filled machine capable of stalking past even the most alert guards. She has rarely been caught by those of the North, and quickly betweens to shelter if anything were to happen. Unlike most dragons of the South, because Dazindivith and As’tor do not feel the need to pain her hide with tattoos, the dark green dragon finds that betweening is the easiest and safest way to get out of sticky situations. She rather likes the cold of between, often telling As’tor that, if she hadn’t Impressed to him, he would still be as cold as the darkest thing imaginable.]

Dazindivith is protective, like As’tor, but in a different way. She protects not only her rider, but those Candidates she has Searched. Sometimes she still protects those Candidates she’s Searched even after they’ve moved on, Impression or not. As a companion to the protection aspect of her personality as well as the optimistic part of her personality, Dazindivith is extraordinarily brave and selfless. She’ll put herself in danger before letting anyone else get injured. She will find Candidates in the strangest places and not exactly in the best ‘strangest’ places, either. If her rider allows, she’ll dive into a Hold just to pick up one girl or boy before vanishing into thin air. She’ll also defend As’tor from anyone, even if the attack is not physical but mental, with speech. She thinks the world of As’tor, and thinks nothing in the world is better than him, except maybe the Queens (and, to a lesser extent, their riders). As such, she believes that he is always right.
