- Note that all sexualities are fluid or basically pansexual, due to ness's own sexual mindset. All characters are at base pansexual; they could go for anyone based on personality over gender. Some of them may lean, and have a gender preference. Some may be more bisexual. Bigenders, transgenders, and other genders may not be an issue on pern, so that aspect may not be an issue. Point: Personality over sexuality, which is why they will be listed as Pansexual with a potential lean.
Looks
Still at the springy point in her growth, Brigand's shape is somewhat lanky, though she's not very tall at 5'4". Her skin is a warm tan shade, and her hair is a deep auburn. that hair tends to curl up at the edges and form natural pseudo-ringlets, and she keeps it messily tied back, paying it as little attention as possible. She's got freckles across her nose, and bright blue eyes, which are just a tad large for her face. Her lips are full and wide, and usually turned upwards in a smile, and otherwise her features are average. She's beginning to get a womanly figure, but is, for the most part, ignoring it.
Personality
Brigand seems not to have lost any of the fiery creativity of her youth.
Bright and energetic, Brigand almost has too much energy; she needs to run around and goof off sometimes to release it. One is almost put in the image of a foal, running and prancing around with the energy of youth. She tends to channel this energy into exploring or playing games.
Eager and confident, she thinks she can do juuust about anything, and really wants to prove it. She likes winning, though she's not a sore looser— the game itself is more fun then the outcome. It's the same of journeys, but thusfar she's only taken a few major journeys, and she's loved wherever she is as much as the journey, or only slightly less.
She's not a very patient girl— this may be the effects of youth, but it seems likely to stay, since it's only slightly diminished in her fourteen years of life. It's not a mean patience— nothing she does is mean, angry, or malicious. It's more an enthusiastic and passionate impatience; she wants to do things and she probably wants to do them now! and aw, really, does she really have to wait? but waiting is so boring, come on! she's ready now! That sort of thing.
She's always been one of those people who played rougher, and played with the boys. She prefers ball-games to playing with dolls, and she's never really been one to sit down and learn ettiquite and formality. To her, those things are outdated and not really a concern; her manners aren't the greatest. BUT she means well.
She can be a bit fiery, and stubborn. when she wants to do something, she is going to do everything in her power to do it, damnit! She's can be a little spitfire, though she's not really one to take cheap shots with cruel words. She has been known to get into fistfights, however.
She's definitely a tomboy, though this is not an active attempt on her part— it's just how she is. She grew up with guy friends, she spends a lot of time with guys, etc. amongst her friend groups, she's usually one of the guys, and seems to be continuing in this vein as she approaches adulthood. However, this is not an act of deliberate scorn for everything female on her part— she kinda likes girly things, she just doesn't really have the patience for them.
She likes dressing up and looking pretty. She really likes getting attention from boys, in the romantic way. She sort of likes makeup— it's too long to put on, though, and expensive— but she really likes jewelry and dresses. She almost never wears them, of course— running around in dresses would destroy them. But she does like it in thought, and she relishes any chance she gets to dress up, even if she looks a bit out of place to anyone who knows her.
That she is considered one of the guys is something she laments, occasionally; this automatically friend-zones her, meaning she's not really seen as a sexual option to the boys her age. Since puberty's happened, she's been noticing this and not exactly happy with it— though she relishes her friendship with boys, and can feel out of place with girls unless they can keep up with her; she's great with other tomboys, but with a priss she has no idea what's happening.
She has relatively high aspirations, but she doesn't really know for what. She likes her dad and she's mildly interested in her dad's work, but honestly, it's to… involved. Sort of. Being a doctor, her dad had to train for a LONG time, and his work involves a lot of careful actions and such— she wants to get down and dirty and do something ACTIVE. her father hopes this will change with age. If dragons were still alive and well, that's what she'd aspire to- but their dwindling numbers is making this a non-option. She's still hopeful she'll find something though, that will suit her well.
She really likes animals, and is perhaps considering work in that field— though her dad's movements make that hard, occasionally. She loves her dad dearly, but he's too busy to pay a lot of attention to her, and she notes that and feels dissatisfied slightly, especially now that most of his attention is taken up with the weyrhold.
History
Born to relatively young parents, Brigand was a blessing and a curse. Her parents loved each other dearly, and were very excited to have a daughter, but her mum was young and there were genetic factors that no one was aware about, that made pregnancy a bad idea. Brigand was born premature, and with several complications— more for her mother then for her. Her mother died shortly after she was born; bled out. Her father was devastated.
Her father was fairly successful- just come out of training to be a healer, he was pretty proficient in his craft, already a journeyman. This meant he was very busy, and in addition to that, the loss of his wife hit him very hard. Despite all this, he decided he would raise his daughter, and not foster her off.
This wasn't easy for any of them. Frequently busy, as he focused on more complicated diagnosis and more scientific medicine then the already-established treatment of common illnesses, he didn't have a lot of time for his daughter. She grew up in rich hold and hall environments, with lots of other children, so she wasn't terribly wanting; she had plenty of other playmates, even if they were mostly guys.
Throughout her life, Brigand has moved— usually between holds and cotholds in near areas, but twice she's moved significantly- the first time from the healer hall to a major hold across pern, and now to Emilia, where a number of very interesting discoveries have been made. Her father is one of the doctors doing research, and as such she sees even less of him then before.
Still, there's as much here for her to explore as there is for him; empty caverns may be a different kind of science, but she has fun in them.
